It's way too late, though. There was a demand for this game after the remake of the original turned out so good. Frankly, this should have been the Resident Evil game that got released on the Wii instead of those rail shooters.

Tell that to the Final Fantasy VII crowd. There will still be demand for the game.

Yeah but the idea of a FFVII remake has always been far more appealing to everyone than an RE2 remake, so that's understandable.

And I'm not saying there isn't still demand for an RE2 remake. I'm just saying it took them too long with little reason as to why (and honestly, it's still not confirmed, it's just back on the table as a real possibility). I can at least understand what took FFVII so long.

gunswordfist

Oh, it's definitely true that this game should have been out but I don't think demand will be effected too much.

Capcom talks about remaking RE2 once every few years, whenever they need to drum up good will. I won't believe they're actually working on it until I see gameplay footage.

And who's to say it won't simply be RE6 with a different skin and story?

Because that would actually cost a lot more money to make since it would basically be a completely new modern game (and this is a company that's notorious for cutting corners in cost). By remaking RE2, I think that it's pretty safe to assume that they mean to do so in the same regard as the RE1 remake.

That's what I was referring to when I said this:

Also, I'm not sure it'll be in the same style as the remake of the original, simply because they haven't touched that style since that game.

talonmalon333

Foggle, would you agree than an RE2 remake should have instead been the game Capcom put their efforts into for the Wii?

Absolutely.

That's actually what everyone thought DSC was going to be when images of it first surfaced.

I remember a lot of jealousy from the Nintendo Resident Evil fans back in that generation, in the fact that they were getting a little rail shooter while XBox 360 and PS3 owners were getting RE5. If the Wii had gotten an RE2 remake, the timing would have been almost perfect and it would have served as a good relief to RE fans who went with Nintendo.

QuoteThe stage is set in a western Australia university, where a bioterrorism incident occurs. A couple of anti-bioterrorism members from BSAA in Chris and Piers show up to investigate, and they'll work with former S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca, who is currently working as a professor at the university.
A mysterious young man named Tyler Howard also shows up, but no one knows anything about him; however what he also seems to know the shocking truth behind the incident.
With the rapidly spreading virus and zombies approaching, will they be able to solve the case on time?
As if modern theater wasn't already in the toilet.

Sure beats that RE2 remake though, huh?

Well, it's happening. Apparently. http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/resident_evil_2_remake/news/resident_evil_2_remake_officially_in_development_capcom_confirms.html

After the last... 4? 6? Resident Evil games, I'm not sure I can bring myself to get hyped - especially without any involvement from Kamiya or Mikami. Show me some REmake-style gameplay and proof that it doesn't have microtransactions, then maybe I'll be interested.

I hope it's a musical!

They might be able to pull it off, considering the groundwork is already in place so much. It's not like they have to make a new game from scratch.

talonmalon333

They should have done this remake before Claire Redfield changed voice actors. I think she might have been the only character in the series with a truly good voice actor/actress. Everyone else always sounded like they were just phoning it in or hamming it up.

They claim they wanted an older voice for Claire. Guess this voice actress in her 40s is too young to play a character in her 20s-30s.
