And PC, if I'm lucky.

Don't you have a 360 anyway?
Well, if he wants the best version, he would probably like a PC option.

MT Framework is definitely one of the best game engines out there right now. I really hope Capcom ports some of their games to Wii-U so that their true glory can be more easily beheld.

Have you seen RE5 or DMC4 on the PC? The graphics and frame rate are practically next-gen already.

I've seen RE4 on the PC. :happytime:

Really though, I do agree with you. Practically any game is better on the PC.

RE6's reviews are all over the place. Some people absolutely hate it, others love it, and more still are calling it decent/mediocre. Of course, it should come as a surprise to no one that the lowest-scored review was written by Jim Sterling.

Still picking up my pre-order tomorrow.

I normally don't listen to critics, but it seems that both fans and critics have the common complaint that this game has way too many scripted events and QTE-driven cutscenes breaking up the flow and pacing of the gameplay. If that's the case, then I can say that this game isn't really for me, either. You guys know my stance on these heavily scripted action shooters.

Personally, I want to play another RE game more like RE4 or the classic RE games. For whatever reason it seems like Capcom doesn't want to make anymore RE games like that.

The shitty thing is that if RE6 doesn't sell well due to its mixed critical reception, I can see Capcom actually giving the axe to this long beloved franchise just because after 1 game that does badly in sales they think that people don't want to play RE anymore, rather than people not wanting to play THIS kind of RE game anymore.

Foggle

For what it's worth, the only QTE in the demo was a boss finisher. The rest of the button prompts were for melee moves, as in RE4/5/Revelations. I'll tell you how the game is when I'm done with it.

This will absolutely happen if this game under-performs. Capcom is kind of terrible that way, and its the only thing that they've kept since Inafune left.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. I don't really care much about what the critics say, but these supposed issues people mention with it are problems that I've long predicted. I also knew that someone would say it's suffering an identity crisis. Looks like a set of completely different games, after all. Still, I'll decide for myself if it's good or not. But I hope that every release after RE4 doesn't just feel watered down.

At the very least, I'm less hyped about it than RE5, which is a good thing.

ORC did gangbusters and Revelations is one of the highest-selling games on the 3DS from what I hear. I highly doubt RE will be going away any time soon.

But did it damage the brand for further sequels? Metal Gear Solid 3, for instance, kind of got hammered in sales after 2 came out and put a lot of people off. I remember 3's sales being really disappointing to Konami.

Not to mention how DMC3 had to get word of mouth to climb in sales after 2 punctured the boat.

What I mean is that the sales don't always show on the disappointing entry (though they do in that they usually have weak legs), but they usually effect the opening performance of the follow-up, and if it isn't good enough it might never gain traction or legs.

That's a good point. I heard the pre-order numbers for RE6 were still pretty high, though. Any good will they lost with ORC was probably earned back by Revelations.

If anything, RE6 might damage the sales of RE7... maybe that's why they want to remake a classic next. But to be honest, I thought the demo was really fun, and certain reviewers have even given it fairly high scores. It seems like a very polarizing game overall.

talonmalon333

It's also worth mentioning that RE5 is the best selling game in the series.

But remakes never sell as well. :P

Avaitor

Well, I think what'll keep RE safe for now is that it's Capcom's biggest franchise, and has been for a little while, at least since 4 came out.

What'll they replace with it if they decide to pull the plug on the franchise? Monster Hunter?
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!
