As long as it comes out for a console that you or a family member owns, then no, you don't. :humhumhum:

They seem to describe it as another remake, but from the looks of things, it's mostly just an HD update with some other improvements. That's good enough for me, though. Glad to see this game finally being playable on something other than a Nintendo.

I can't complain. a direct port would have been more than fine with me.

I wish the REmastered REmake was coming to the Wii U (seriously, why isn't it? Nintendo and Capcom should really get that to happen) but REmake is my favorite Resident Evil game ever so I will be getting it on the 360 or PS3 to be able to play it on my HDTV without the picture looking like crap.

talonmalon333

So I hear Barry's daughter is going to be in Revelaitons 2. Is this true or false?

talonmalon333

Foggle, you're the RE expert around these parts, right? Show some knowledge, man. :oo:

Honestly, I haven't kept up with Revelaitons 2. Outside of RE4PC2 and ReREmake, Capcom completely lost me after RE6 and REV1. But yes, apparently the protagonists in it are Barry's daughter and Claire from RE2/CV.

Revelaitons was quite good at times, but it still had a lot of stupid problems that would have never made it past beta if Mikami or Kamiya had any involvement with it. It was also no more of a "classic RE" title than 4 was. I've heard talk of the big C adding forced co-op into the sequel (OH BOY!), so it'll probably end up being pretty bad. And RE7 is apparently going to be just like 6... so they haven't learned anything. REV2's announcement - especially the promise of it being "classic survival horror guys, honest!" - just feels like Capcom trying to cash in on The Evil Within, to me.

I actually heard that Mikami had a little bit of involvement with Revelaitons.

Also, didn't they recently state that they want to go back to pure survival horror with 7? At least, according to Wikipedia.

QuoteIn 2013, producer Masachika Kawata said the Resident Evil franchise would return to focus on elements of horror and suspense over action, adding, "Survival horror as a genre is never going to be on the same level, financially, as shooters and much more popular, mainstream games. At the same time, I think we need to have confidence to put money behind these projects, and it doesn't mean we can't focus on what we need to do as a survival horror game to meet fan's needs."

The only source for this is Wikipedia, and I'm pretty sure it's not true. Mikami has openly expressed distaste for RE5 and 6, I think Capcom is too proud to ever ask him to work on the series again, and I think Mikami is too proud to ever accept a request to work on the series again. Wikipedia credits him as a "Background designer" on the game, which doesn't really seem to mean anything, since REV uses full 3D environments instead of pre-rendered backgrounds. If he is actually credited with that role in the game's credits (which I don't remember seeing either of the times I beat the game), it probably just means that he was the original creator of Resident Evil.

I believe in one of the recent articles about REV2 they stated that the main series would continue being like RE6.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

If Capcom hasn't learned its lesson after not one, not two, but THREE RE games that fans detested (well, perhaps you could argue that opinions on 5 were more mixed than straight-up negative), then perhaps I should be praying that they don't ever make another DMC game rather than wishing for them to make a new one. It seems like they were clearly wrong, as reflected by the poor sales of their games, and yet some executives up their are too arrogant and up their own asses with pride to admit that they made the wrong decision and go back to the drawing board. Instead they'd rather run the company into the ground by repeating the same mistake over and over again until they're finally bankrupt.

talonmalon333

Did Revelaitons feature a replica of the mansion main hall? Maybe that's why he's credited, because his RE1 design inspired it.

Maybe it's better for them to be honest, instead of constantly claiming that they're going back to the roots of the series. :??:

Also, I meant to say this about RE4 in the other discussion, in terms of how scary it is. I forgot to so I'll just post it here. I don't think it's as scary as RE1 or 2, but I would say it's on the same level as 3, CV, and 0 or at least almost as scary. I mean, it's not necessarily a scary game, per say. but to be honest, are any of the RE games especially scary? Compared to Silent Hill 1, they're as scary as Yoshi's Story.

I'd point out that you made a typo, but the funny thing is that Capcom actually made your spelling legitimate.

I don't think so, but I might not have put two and two together depending on how the area was laid out.

I don't think RE1 is scary at all; I can see why people would have been frightened by it back in the day, though. REmake is terrifying. That one aside, I actually thought 3 was the scariest of the classic games due to Nemesis, but 2 has some awesome jump moments. 0 has the leech men and nothing else, and CV is about as scary as RE5.

I'd honestly put 4 above all of them except REmake. It's the only other one that spooked me on a somewhat regular basis.

Yep, we spell it that way because of Capcom's ineptitude. I actually had one of the copies with the title misspelled on it!

Still not as bad as the IGN image watermark being visible on the Okami Wii box art.

The zombies were scarier in 1 than the remake. :thinkin:

Also, 0 had a few creepy environments. It wasn't particularly scary on the whole, though.

Yep! At this point, it's been firmly established in my mind as the game's title. When I type it, and when I say it out loud when discussing the game with other people, I always call it "Revelaitons". I don't even think twice about it, honestly. :D

This article argues that RE4 wasn't the beginning of what RE has become today, and that in fact, RE3 is.
