I don't get why YA book series are all the rage now. This, HP, Twilight, they're not they good.
Because kids need to read and shit. And I don't ever recall HP being YA.
I'm almost 100% positive it's YA.

Children's fiction, whatever. They all reach for the same demographic mostly.

the sad thing is, books like these re the only ones that people my age seem to read these days.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

The YA medium does have some gems though. Like, anything by John Green for example.

Maniac McGee is the greatest novel ever written by an American. TruFaxYo.

It makes me depressed, honestly. I feel like even if I somehow manage to get a book published eventually, no one will read it.

I really want to read more of John Green's work, but since most of it is based in Central Florida, it's hard as fuck to find his books here. At least, I think that's why. Took forever to find Looking for Alaska.

And yeah, I really like Ned Vizzini's work myself.

Not if it's stand alone.

You mean that no one will read it if it's standalone? I was afraid of that...

I honestly think this is the reason why we get weaboo's saying stuff like how Visual Novel's are better than any written literature and crap like that. They're all in that YA demographic and think that all modern books are like Twilight or The Hunger Games, that they don't bother to look beyond YA Literature and find any true gems worth reading.

It has to be a series that Hollywood can milk off of with a film deal.

Sad truths.

Can't I just settle for an animated adaptation like a sane man would? :(

If only Suzanne Collins followed this line of thinking. Instead she's laughing all the way to the bank, as well as laughing at all of us.

If you follow after Deltora Quest, you probably could.

I don't know about the Twihard stuff (HP was a kid's book that grew into a young adult one and it wasn't anywhere near the level of Twilight, guys), but I'm tired of these series driven by love triangles and "dark content" in order to hook teenage girls.

S.E. Hinton wrote the Outsiders when she was a teenager, for crying out loud. It's a lot deeper than these books.
