Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

The Capitol's theme song.
No, the Capitol's not cool evil. There's no practical reason for them to be evil. In fact, their evil ends up ensuring their self-destruction in the end. It's stupid evil.

Then there's literally no alternative.

Hell, I had Ian McDiarmid's voice in my head whenever Snow spoke.

Wow. That's...rather pathetic really.

CHAPTER THREE: Oh Now You've Done It!

Snow takes off and Katniss's head is swimming. Basically just reread my entry on Chapter Two since I don't want to have to type all that shit again because she does in the book. There's really noone she can talk about this outside of Haymitch.... ugh Haymitch...better get it over with.

Haymitch is slightly relieved that Katniss is still alive, you see its not really Snow's style to not just kill potential traitors, and the girl on fire seems to have a decent survival rate but this will be tested soon. You see as past winners of The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta will have to keep this act up for much longer than Katniss wishes or else Snow WILL pull the trigger on Gale. They're the mentors now and this is the year of the Quarter Quell, an event that occurs every 25 years where the Capitol changes the tribune selection rules to put the fear of god back into the Districts. And considering Snow's utter contempt for Katniss, he'll be paying extra attention to how District 12 handles theirs.

Katniss comes to the conclusion that she has really screwed the pooch this time. She's going to have to make amends with Peeta fast, and then be forced into something she may or may not want to do.... marry him!

But wasn't that the point of the Hunger Games? Doesn't this make the Quarter Quell redundant?

Yeah I don't get it either. The Quarter Quell is basically just a plot device to get Katniss back into the arena... which is stupid.

The story needed 10% more evil government. It was just the right dash.

CHAPTER 4: Night Train to District 11

Our tribunes as well as their stylists and Effie and Haymitch have finally left District 12 to begin the "exciting" and now potentially hellish "Victory Tour". The tour begins backwards starting with District 12, skipping your home district so it can be the grand finale, and seeing that Katniss and Peeta won this year, District 11 is the first stop.

District 11 of course is a big test for Katniss as both Rue and Thresh were from there originally so she can't make a big scene. During a trainstop, Peeta who's not walking well (I failed to mention that in the last chapter of The Hunger Games it was revealed that he lost his leg completely and had to replace it with prosthetics, there you go) due to the cold weather has a brief exchange with Katniss. He's come to the realization that Katniss's "fake" attraction to him was what saved his life in the arena and that he wants to at least be friends with her. Katniss is overjoyed about this as she's found it difficult to look at Peeta let alone talk to him as of late.

The group finally arrives in District 11 where a huge audience awaits at the dilapidated justice center. Katniss can quickly recognize the families of Thresh and Rue in the crowd and she can't face them so Peeta does most of the talking. Peeta gives a short speech about how the actions of Thresh and Rue might have saved both of their lives and that he wants to repay that debt. To that end, he's asked that one month of the pairs winnings being donated to the families of the two District 11 tribunes, its a complete off the script moment and it catches Katniss off guard. Unsure what to say during the trip because of the Snow threat, Katniss breaks down, confessing her admiration for Thresh and her deep love for Rue. Its a rare moment where I actually like Katniss a bit.

From in the distance, Katniss can make out the call of a MockingJay. Its made by an old man who does the three-fingered District 12 salute, which prompts the crowd to do the same. Katniss is moved by this one event and that only adds to her horror when a group of Peacekeepers opens fire a few minutes later.

........way to go.
