Things That Don't Bother You About Gaming

Yeah. My older brother is one of those people who plays only sports games (well, mostly sports games) now, which is kind of sad since he and I used to play a lot of classic games together from Halo to Mario Tennis, but now he no longer has any interest in those kinds of games and mainly only sticks to the simulation type sports games. That's fine and everything, but those games just don't appeal to me because I don't want to play a more realistic sports game. I like the ones that are more over-the-top and take advantage of being a video game rather than trying to be closer to what a game looks like on TV.

or a racing fan to play Road Rash.

Holy shit! Road Rash! I completely forgot about those games. I played a few on the PC plus I had Road Rash 64, and man were those games addicting. I loved being able to screw over your competition by hitting them with pipes and placing objects in their way. The banana peal in 64 really screwed over my cousin and my brother when we played split-screen multiplayer in that game (I was usually pretty good and spotting and avoiding them, myself). I also have to admit that it was just addicting to buy newer and better bikes.

Adding combat to racing games was a brilliant idea in general. Not only do you have to watch the road in front of you, but you have to also watch out for any craziness that might come from behind (or upfront)! It's why I enjoy those kinds of racers the best.

Yeah, those are the only kinds of racers that I can really enjoy, because admittedly I suck at racing games and rarely ever make 1st place. That said, these kinds of games are fun to play in general, and I typically don't care whether I get first place or not, since its also just as much fun to work on messing around with and screwing over your opponents (actually, its arguably even more fun).

My favorite sports games are Mario Tennis (for the N64) and Sega Soccer Slam (a really underrated gem of a game). Well, if you count skating games then I also liked SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (1 and 2 were good, but I liked 3 the best), and Aggressive Inline. Splash Down was also a good game. Oh yeah, and I also really liked NBA Street Volume 2 back in the day.

Oh yeah, and there's also the Mario Kart games which are about the only racing games that I really enjoy.
I didn't SSX Tricky was a skating game. :>

That's my favorite sports game. So damn addictive. SSX Tricky, Burnout and Super Smash Bros. are the most addictive games I've ever played. Someone needs to make a thread about addictive games.

Also, me and my oldest little brother used to play some Madden game on Genesis. All I remember was it was in 3rd person or something like that, you could flip over people which is a move we didn't know how to do but was cool when it was performed at random and that Emmitt Smith was fast as hell in that game. Also remember as kids how much we hated the realistic sports game. We were like, why play that when you can just go outside and do that? :awesome:

You should try Outrun some time (especially Outrun 2 and it's spin offs), that game is just class.

But I do agree that older sports games were better a sa whole because they were more arcade-inspired and less simulation they are now. You didn't have to be a basketball fan to play NBA Jam, and Hockey fan to play Mutant League, a football fan to play NFL Blitz, a skating fan to like THPS, or a racing fan to play Mario Kart or Road Rash.

Nowadays, it's like it's aimed only at the superfans of each sport instead of everybody like they used to be.
Yeah, Tony Hawk is such a good party (or whatever you'd call it) game. Still don't care for skateboarding.

2 or 3 weeks ago, I was watching my baby brother and little cousin fight Deadpool in my copy of Shattered Dimensions that I haven't played yet. I've seen my brother play it before but I got to see much more of the boss fight this time and paid more attention. I was laughing like an idiot during it and my brother started making fun of how much I was laughing. Can't remember the last time I laughed at a game like that.

That's a very well thought-out and well-written response to the Tekken fans. While I'm not a Tekken fan myself, I know from experience how obnoxious and unrealistic some fans can be with their demands, and I like it when devs can tell them off in an intelligent way while also showing respect to the fans who can step back and understand how the video game development process doesn't always allow for every little thing that they want.

Honestly, Harada didn't have to say anything to the ignorant fans who were spamming him, but the fact that he replies to intelligently is just added insult to them if they still try to spam him and can't understand what he's saying. People like that just need to grow up.

I hope that Tekken Tag Tournament completely destroys DOA5 in sales (they both come out in the same month). That way it'll force Tecmo to realize how lost they are without Itagaki around to direct games for them. They honestly have no idea what the hell they're doing anymore.
