Anyways, to pick up on a conversation we were having earlier, I really appreciate these games for their sense of humor (you know, aside from its amazing action and fun gameplay). Like many others, my 2 favorite characters (besides Max Payne himself), are Vladimir Lem and Vincent Gognitti.

My 2nd favorite line from Vinnie is: "Well, that was fun - in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

I've said this exact shit.  :wth:

Best line in the whole game. The delivery is so perfect. On that note, I can kinda' do Vinnie's voice and my fake Russian accent (which everyone seems to find hilarious) is basically just me emulating Vlad's VA.
 Also, I didn't see him say 2nd favorite. Bad EK!

Not that much of an accomplishment, really. The only other good MoH is Allied Assault.

Uh....Frontline is awesome.

I haven't played that one in like 8 years. Forgive me for forgetting about it. Everything after it, though... complete trash.

Is it as hard as Max Payne? There are no PC versions and I would never be able to beat MP with a controller...
Other than the story (which is so bad it's almost a parody of MP with a downer ending that will never be resolved since it bombed), the game is actually a mix of beat em up and third person shooter. I beat it on the hardest difficulty, and you can approach almost any situation with your fists or your gun which is a cool idea. It's not a pure shooter though, so the shooting is not as good as MP. The game really could have used co-op, too. I've never played the other DTR games though, so I'm not sure how they compare. I think they're more light-hearted, though.
I thought the first one was alright. Not sure how others would like it. 's also extremely hard, imo. It has things like bomb disarming with an Irritating Stick type of minigame. I also remember the game being really long. I never beat it.

Well, I don't remember anything after it myself, and I did at least try playing a few, so I suppose you're right if they are that forgettable. That said, I still think Frontline is one of the best console FPS experiences that I have played, and its pretty much the only WW2 shooter that I really like.

Ummmm....Yeah, so Max Payne, the topic this is supposed to be about....:D

Anyways, I'm wondering whether MP3 will really manage to top the original or not. The potential is certainly there, but keep in mind that the original is one of my top 5 favorite games of all time, so in order to MP3 to top it, I believe it would literally have to be one of the greatest games that I have ever played, which is no easy task. I mean, I'm sure mechanically it'll be a better game, but whether it has a feel or not that can top the first game and keep me coming back for more remains to be seen. The first 2 games really clicked with me with their graphic novel style of story-telling and their witty scripts that were purposefully cheesy but had a pretty interesting plot and good characterization underneath all of the hammy dialogue and voice-acting. I want an experience in MP3 that can feel at least as unique as those games, even if it'll feel different on the whole (which it should, since its a game by a different developer, but I just hope its different in a really good way).

I've heard that MP 3 is going to be more of an inner struggle. It's about Max coping with loss and struggling with addiction to both alcohol and painkillers. If - and this is a big if - Rockstar handles this well, I think it could definitely be the best in the series. Max is still pretty snarky as evidenced by the GTTV video, but I hope it keeps the trademark humor and TV shows from the Remedy games. If it can do all that, it'll surpass the original IMO.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

Yeah, but that it is pretty hard to pull off. I mean, Rockstar can write some decent scripts, but they have't done anything on that level, yet. That said, what I am glad to hear is that despite keeping a strong focus on story and narrative like the previous games, they aren't using that as an excuse to turn this into a full-blown movie game. On the contrary, they have already pointed out that they have taken great strains to really beef up the AI, and also vary them between enemies. I believe the art director pointed out that most shooters have scripted enemies, but Max Payne's enemies are completely AI controlled, which is to say that they will just try and find the best way to kill you in each situation. This could lead to some very varied and dynamic firefights that can make for a great deal of replay value, even more so than the first 2 games, which is another thing that this game could do to potentially surpass the original.

Quite true. But this is the first "short" game they've made since Red Dead Revolver, so I'm sure it'll be a lot more focused than GTA and RDR.

It has 4 hours and 10 minutes of real-time cutscenes, apparently... that's almost as long as Max Payne 2 as a whole. Apparently this is why the Xbox version is two discs and the PC version is 35 GB.

I've.....never even thought about that. The only TPS I've ever been thinking about that could top Max Payne...is a Max Payne remake. IDK.

2 discs? I had no clue. Hmmm, Max Payne possibly as long as I want to be? 20 hours would be perfect.

Launch trailer is up! And it's great!

No shots of New York, though... I get the feeling that part of the game will probably be pretty short. :(

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

That amount of time in cut-scenes as fine as long as the game has at least twice that amount of time in gameplay to support it.

Surprise, surprise... the game has already leaked to pirates. Xbox pirates that is, the kind which companies like Epic Games always seem to "forget" exist.

Anyway, apparently the first few hours of the game are very heavy on cutscenes, but the majority of MP 3 is more about actual gameplay than movie watching. Which is great news, of course.
