Apparently it's actually not airing on Toonami after all?

Hey, remember this? Guess what?
This thing is the reason why MHA S7 hasn't aired on Toonami.
(Yep, AXS scooped it up.)

Imagine losing a heavy hitter like MHA to some literally who channel. Like, say TV is dead all you want, the fact that Toonami didn't get the rights to the next season, but someone else did is hilarious in a sad way.

The only silver lining, if any, is that AXS is apparently starting from S1.

This does raise the question of what's up with Sentai and Discotek if they're not airing any of their catalogue in a trying time for the block.

Dr. Insomniac

In all likelihood, the Toonami staff forgot how to contact Sentai or Discotek and will go "We can't afford to air this show! Please don't ask us to explain!" when called out on its abysmal management.

I believe I saw that they only have the rights to the first two seasons thus far. Which hopefully doesn't mean that S7 is off limits for Toonami.

But maybe it is, and maybe Toonami just doesn't care anymore. Dismal times.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

Really speaks to how low the bar is right now when a Watanabe show will be on Toonami in a couple months, and the general mood for the block is still dread. Because even if the show turns out to be the next Bebop and be a 10/10 series, it's still 1 cour that'll dry up in 12 weeks instead of anything that can offer a long-term lifeline.

Daxdiv

Well, that's kinda dumb thing to do. You would figure that 58 would be the cut off point since that ends the Namek/Freeza saga. Going back to square one after going Super Saiyan feels like a kick in the balls. Like, I could understand going back to square one after the arc ends cause that would be a OK ending.

Daikun

Wow. They picked up a contract to reair this show a year ago and they couldn't even air the whole series, let alone half. That's really lame.

Lazarus can't come soon enough.

Dr. Insomniac

Yeah, I still don't get what happened. Was it just 47 because "47 episodes + 5 random-ass marathons = a year's worth of DBZ?" or did they inexplicably order the episodes on an individual basis and not have enough money to get to 48? Because both sound stupid, but I can't think of other explanations. Or maybe it's another fuckup like the Barney ad and calling Rick and Morty an E/I show. And if it is, someone at AS really should do something about it before it snowballs.

It's also funny seeing people insist they're content with this. There are people who'd be cool with Toonami just airing a still image of Goku for 2 hours and think any complaints about it are just nitpicking.

Daikun

Starting in March, Toonami is going to start airing...Common Side Effects? ???

Dr. Insomniac

I wonder what stops them from airing the HBO Spawn cartoon. HBO and CN are owned by the same company. MacFarlane's on good enough terms with WB to keep making Batman toys for them. Yeah, they'd only have 18 episodes, but you might as well. At least the show's actually for adults instead of most of the block.
