Lol. Just lol.

To clear up a few misconceptions some people have seemed to develop about our board over the years:

1. This is a free, public forum. Anyone can join, and I want it to be an enjoyable place for everyone, provided they aren't spouting hate speech or linking to illegal materials.

2. Only three people have ever been permanently banned from AR. This was never due to difference of opinion, but rather the fact that they were making other users feel uncomfortable. One of these people was later unbanned, even.

3. I have specifically gone out of my way to make aspects of our site more appealing to new users, including making decisions that were considered unpopular at the time.

4. AR started out as a hangout for about eight friends, which is why at times it may seem like some of the older users share many similar opinions. A tighter sense of community among the founding members does not constitute an "echo chamber."

5. I have grown more socially conscious about our blog over the years, and have made strides to change my writing style to be more positive, stop stating my opinions as fact, and encourage our other writers to do the same.

6. Anyone who has a complaint about the way this forum is run, or a post someone made, can PM, tweet, or email me and expect a response. I will always be willing to talk to our users about any problems they may have.

7. We - as a collective - do not hate ToonZone or its members, and I still have no idea how that rumor got started.

8. You will never see advertisements, donator privileges, or any of that other bullshit on AR. I pay for the hosting and both domain names out of pocket, at times with generous contributions from our wonderful users when I've been low on cash. You're all awesome.

9. I actively attempt to strike a balance between making this board a safe space for all kinds of people while also discouraging censorship of our members. There have been some problems with people's posts being overzealously deleted in the past, absolutely, but we've been keeping that to a minimum for a while now. I will only personally delete posts if I feel that they are outright hateful toward a specific group, if they're spam, or if they link to warez/porn.

10. Just because everyone on our podcast hates Sword Art and Clannad does not mean that we always agree on everything. Nor does it mean that you aren't allowed to post about how much you like those series on here.

11. Most of us have vastly different opinions from each other and still manage to be friends. That's just how the world works. I haven't really seen any parroting on here since the early days.

Because a certain member of Toon Zone (*coughShawnHopkinscough*) had an axe to grind against us due to certain perceived slights against him that didn't actually happen. Also because he's a jerk.

I found myself thinking about him again the other day. It was kind of his fault for what happened to him at school, but I can sympathize with the kid in a way. He really didn't deserve all the crap he put up with on the Internet.
