It wouldn't take JO so long to do her Digimon reviews if she would just tone down her content and not work on 4 or 5 other series of videos at once. I appreciate the effort she puts in her vids, all by herself no less, but with stuff like this, it gets very monotonous.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Actually, I quite like the length and amount of detail of her Digimon retrospective videos. She doesn't really repeat herself and they are pretty well organized so they don't just sound like she's rambling on and on. That said she shouldn't be focusing on multiple projects at once and except to be able to keep up with ANY of them in a timely manner. I remember that she was doing that radio drama on top of still having Digimon videos to work on as well as putting together her top 25 list video as well as working on regular reviews and even some cross-over reviews, so yeah, that just seems like way too much work for one person to handle in a timely manner and quite clearly it is. I think she needs to come up with a more organized schedule for herself that is reasonable enough for her to follow. She'd probably be a lot more popular among the Internet reviewers on that site if she did get videos out more regularly than she currently does.

Why does she ramble on in these videos? I swear that there were a few things she could have cut out in her ramblings in the Grave of the Fireflies video and still made her point. I got that this movie was made during a time where in Japan that Juvenile Delinquencies were up, but other than that... what did the rest have to do with the movie in question?

You know its funny, I actually find Bennett's show slightly more interesting if only for the fact that he reviews that sort of horrible macho late-80s, early-90s ova crap I grew up on watching Saturday Anime on the old Sci-Fi Channel. Jesu... its the same problem Don's show has. Its all too damn recent. You don't know what bad anime is until you sit through Lily C.A.T and Demon City Shinjuku. Everything else is far too populist.

JO put up four more videos in the past week. I'm watching them now, and I realize that Kiki is the only Miyazaki movie I haven't seen. I'm not too interested, honestly.

Also, fun fact- Only Yesterday aired on American TV once, during TCM's Ghibli dedication, which they did a while after Toonami aired Month of Miyazaki.

Oddly enough I have seen that movie (though it was a long time ago, back when it aired on the Disney Channel of all things). And, yeah, to me its basically the same deal with how I can't get into other Miyazaki films. The characters just don't interest me.

Kiki seems like one of those films that works best if you grew up watching it as a kid. I didn't, even though I noticed that it aired on Disney Channel a lot back then, so that's why I'm resistant.

I also never saw the Fox dub of Totoro, even though again, I saw the VHS around a lot back in the day.

You missed Angelica talking to a giant raccoon.

Is that nearly as epic as Phil Hartman playing a cat?

Few things are.  8)

Seriously though, the dub was alright. Nothing all that bad or amazing.

Now I'm on her Porco Rosso review.

I don't know which director has overused their main modes of storytelling more- Miyazaki with his love for aviation or Wes Anderson and his daddy issues.

Watching her Pom Poko vid, and I gotta say that I love her Disney defense. I've always thought that just because a Japanese piece of work is based on an important piece of culture from the country doesn't mean that it needs to be respected as such if there isn't a reason to actually enjoy it. She nails it.

The fact that they bothered to dub Pom Poko is pretty headscratching to me. Takahata always struck me as the more overrated of the two.

What does it say that JO's 3 favorite Ghibli/Miyazaki films are the 3 I couldn't get into?
