The title says it all. What is your favorite film trilogy?

Evil Dead. I would have said The Godfather, but I can watch any Evil Dead movie at any time and love every minute, whereas I try to avoid watching Godfather Part 3.

By the way, I just figured I'd mentioned that people can break up trilogies. For example, saying Star Wars doesn't have to encompass both the original and the prequel trilogy. And I'd say the same thing for Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

I imagine that is generally accepted to be the case though with these topics. :P

Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

I'm going to pick an odd choice and say Toy Story. Very consistently great trilogy, even though I could probably list individual films from other trilogies that I prefer to any of these movies.

The Man with No Name and Back to the Future (I've warmed up to the 3rd film in recent years).

In secondary spots, I would pick the original Star Wars trilogy (fuck the haters, I enjoyed Return of the Jedi) as well as Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Also, I think that The Godfather Part 3 is a good movie, and actually rather underrated. Meanwhile, I always found 2 to be fairly overrated (though it IS still a better movie than 3). The first movie is the most well-balanced, to me, and the only one that I really ever go back to re-watch. That said, I still prefer the book to any of the movies.

Me too. ;D

I don't think it's a bad movie, I just don't like it all that much.

While not one of my absolute favorites, I've gotta give an honorable mention to Evil Dead. Army of Darkness in particular is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen (though I'm still kinda partial to the original title, Medieval Dead).

This might be a cliche question for me, but what would you rate the three Godfather films? :P

I actually didn't know Return of the Jedi is frequently hated. I know it's the least liked of the three. And I can agree, it can be a bit cheesy. But I don't see how people could say it's bad. I mean, the scenes at the end with Luke, Darth Vader, and the Emperor are arguably the best parts of the entire trilogy. The Emperor in particular is an underrated character. Gotta be in my top 5 in terms of Star Wars characters.

I don't understand why Return is hated either. The Ewoks are kind of stupid, but I like pretty much everything else about it.

Part 1 - 9.5/10
Part 2 - 9.5/10
Part 3 - 6.5/10

I don't think Part 3 is bad by any means, I just think it's a lot weaker than the first two, so I've only seen it a couple times. It kind of closes out the trilogy on a sour note for me.

That's....kind of the point. Its not supposed to be a happy ending. Though, if by sour note you mean its not as good, I'd argue that very few 3rd movies are ever close to as good as the original.

Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention The Dark Knight trilogy as one of my secondary choices. While I don't think Batman Begins to be quite as good as everyone else makes it out to be (I still really like it, though), on the flip-side, I find that The Dark Knight Rises is a lot better than what some people give it credit for, so overall it still evens out to be one of the better movie trilogies that I have seen.

:unimpressed:

You know what I mean. Part 2 doesn't have a happy ending either.

The Dark Knight and the original Star Wars. I can't put one above the other.

I like both trilogies, myself, though I'd personally have to give the edge to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, if only because I feel that its one of the few trilogies that ended on a really high note with a 3rd film that was superior to the first 2 (IMO).
