Sorting through internet Top 100 lists of the 90's in preparation for (finally) doing my Top 100 Singles of the 90's. I had to actually look up a few. For example... never heard Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" before. And I've never listened to "Protect Ya Neck" all the way through. Or "Rosa Parks." And it's been a million years since I actually sat through "Sabotage."

What I've been going through the last hour (for research, I haven't decided what will make my list):

R.E.M. - "Losing My Religion"
Blackstreet - "No Diggity"
Coolio - "Gangsta's Paradise"
Matthew Sweet - "Girlfriend"
Julee Cruise - "Falling"
Bone Thugs n Harmony - "Tha Crossroads"
CJ Bolland - "Sugar is Sweeter"
LL Cool J - "Hey Lover"
Alice in Chains - "Would?"
Sinead O'Connor - "Nothing Compares 2 U"
Destiny's Child - "Bills, Bills, Bills"
Nine Inch Nails - "The Perfect Drug"
Robin S. - "Show Me Love"

EDIT (2:00 PM, the next day):
Just added up my preliminary "to choose from" playlist I've assembled of my favorite and (what I feel are) the better songs of the decade. The first "cutdown" list from which I will choose my top tracks... it totals 930. Something tells me choosing 300 out of this (to match my 80's singles list) will be a bitch.
Well, I got so burned out on the road
Too many fags, too much blow
And then Mick and I split up and I said,
"Kid, it's time to take a little bit of a hiatus."
So I got myself a gig at the coffee shop
and I love it.
Why don't you take that corner booth,
I'll take your order in a minute...

Fleetwood Mac- "Tusk"

This song's been stuck in my head ever since its use in The Americans last night. Pretty keen new show, btw.

I'm currently listening to Modeselektor feat. Miss Platnum - Berlin

"Drug food food, drug food food"

It's awfully catchy  O0

Whittling down my 930 list to... 475. Or, I'm in the process of doing that. I have about 17 left to choose in the remaining bulk list of 166.

Right now I'm taking a closer listen to:

Nine Inch Nails - "Piggy"
Cibo Matto - "Know Your Chicken"
Lords of Acid - "Pussy" and "Rough Sex"
Hooverphonic - "Eden"
Smashing Pumpkins - "Zero"
Seal - "Don't Cry"
Aqua - "Doctor Jones"
The Wiseguys - "Start the Commotion"
Ja Rule - "Holla Holla"
Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies - "Boogie King"
Madonna - "Deeper and Deeper"
Cake - "Sheep Go to Heaven"
Soundgarden - "Spoonman"
Salt-N-Pepa - "Let's Talk About Sex"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Give It Away" and "Show Me Your Soul"
Tori Amos - "Jackie's Strength"
The Verve - "Sonnet"
Sonic Youth - "The Diamond Sea" and "Kool Thing"
Blur - "Parklife"
Dave Matthews Band - "Satellite" and "Typical Situation"
Lenny Kravitz - "Are You Gonna Go My Way"
Rednex - "Cotton Eye Joe"
Toni Braxton - "You Mean the World to Me"
and
Babes in Toyland - "House"

Do you have any Type O in your schedule, or is that off of the grid?

This is the first moment they popped in my head. I'm either going to have to add them to my Blind Spots list or spend 30 minutes doing research on 'em.

A quick speed-over to Wiki tells me they had... 10 singles in the 90's... I guess I could look 'em up.

(And, here's my Blind Spots list, as it stands now:

the Entire Country Genre, including Shania Twain
any of the solo former Beatles
Metallica
Pantera
Slayer
Megadeath
Rage Against the Machine
The Ramones
Guns N Roses
John Mellencamp
Bob Dylan
Violent Femmes
Neutral Milk Hotel
Belle and Sebastian
The Afghan Whigs
Cracker
Everlast
Phish
Butthole Surfers
Candlebox
Fastball
Cowboy Mouth
Slint
Black Eyed Peas
Mos Def
Mobb Deep
Nas
Ice Cube
Kid Rock
Skunk Anansie
Filter
Tonic
Eve 6
My Bloody Valentine
Devo / Mark Mothersbaugh
Morcheeba
Propellerheads
Dust Brothers
Aphex Twin
SWV
MC Hammer
Gerardo
Vanilla Ice
Slipknot
Limp Bizkit
Train
Bob Carlisle)

EDIT:
I've decided to extend the count to 500 to make room for Type O if I find anything I think is worthy. What spurred this decision? It's certainly not the obscene amount of Ace of Base on my list or anything like that. (Uh... I've got to go.)

Have room for one more song? Easily my favorite of their 90's singles, but "Holy Smoke" is worth a listen, as well.

Actually, I'd also recommend checking out Bruce's solo singles from the decade. He put out a lot of good stuff.

I'll get the MP3 and put it in the mix. (I currently have room for 8.) (Oh, and Iron Maiden had a track on my original cutdown list for my top 300 singles of the 80's list - "Run for the Hills.")

Interesting thing about that video... one of their shooting locations is UNMISTAKABLY one of the locations in a scene from one of my Top 100 horror films.

Yep yep.

While we're at it, did you know that Queensryche's "Silent Lucidity" has sound clips from the sequel?

I hate Hellbound. So much, in fact, that I'd consider Bloodline superior (aka, in fan circles: the one in space).

I liked Hellbound when it attempted to make up for certain events in Hellraiser, but it totally lost me by the end.

I haven't seen any of the others, so I can't comment.

The third film is the best in my opinion. Mainly because it doesn't fuck with the storyline of the first movie or try to continue it. And it's visually more pleasing and has an excellent extending city-in-chaos ending that is insanely fun. Kirsty only shows up for 1 minute on VHS footage the TV reporter digs up.

After that, things get pretty stupid very quickly. The 4th film is terrible but I wouldn't describe it as painful. The fifth film was a script for a completely different film that the Weinstein brothers had changed to include Pinhead in the last 30 minutes. Shockingly, it's not bad until the last 30 minutes. Then it's the 2nd worst movie in the franchise. The sixth film seems like it has the same exact problem - the story not being about Pinhead, so it feels like he doesn't fit. Kirsty comes back here and is given a wildly insane revenge plot for which she actually calls Pinhead intentionally and they make a completely closed-case deal. In that: there's no "but we want you to stay and play with us" ending, Pinhead takes her offering and she goes along her merry way. That part of the movie works the best. The seventh film is easily the worst. Every moment is indescribably awful. The eight film is standard run-of-the-mill bad. Only, it's noteworthy for trying to bring back the 90's teen style of horror films. I guess Cursed was more popular than I remember it being.

EDIT:
Going through Type O Negative's singles right now. First one out the gate made my list.
