It's like how the Socialism subreddit is banning Venezuelans because they're posting about how much living under socialism sucks. The internet is romanticizing all these horrible countries and their despot leaders because of shit going on in America. Like I've meant so many people on Twitter who think Cultural Revolution era China would be a great place to live in, and either forget or deny how much horrible shit happened in that period. And now they're acting like all the testimonies from North Korea escapees are Western propaganda, and that North Korea is actually a cool place to live in? Fuck that. These privileged pieces of shit who go "Marxism didn't kill that many millions of people. Mao is bae. <3" have no idea what it's like living under a Communist state. Yeah, capitalism's bad, the right wing sucks, and so on, but taking something that's caused so much agony to countless people no matter their class or creed and not only praising it, but wearing it online like it's a fashion accessory is such a fucking joke.

If you're gonna look at all these reports from people who survived North Korean gulags and say they're just shills for a western conspiracy, then you're no different from Alex Jones and his lunacy.

Did you check out her "proof?" It's a 20-minute YouTube video of some Australian dudes going on one of the guided North Korea tours and basically concluding that everything is totally cool over there because of the image they put up for paying visitors. Truly amazing.

Oh God, those two shitty guys with their pornstaches and smug demeanor, acting like living in America is more dystopian than North Korea. It's self-absorbed, and makes light of the people who suffered under the Kims. I remember before Vice went to shit, they made a documentary where a couple guys did those North Korea tours, and they were shocked at how lonely it was there. A girl in a tea shop who only had a couple customers every year. All these soldiers who are propped and do nothing but show how cool their 1970s ships are. These banquets presented at giant rooms but with only five people. And how everything outside Pyongyang is so rural and lacking in anything resembling technology that it may as well be time-displaced.

Yeah, that's why I'm getting so disillusioned by all these twitters preaching revolution and communism. It's like, do these people know anything about world history? Like when Iran had a revolution to depose the Shah, but it went wrong, and they ended up with an Ayatollah who created an even more conservative nation? Or the Holodomor? Or Khmer Rouge?

Or do they just go like Michael Moore, and believe that every single fuck-up in a leftist nation was all because of American interference and not occasionally because of inner corruption? Or just how hard it is to get millions of people in a nation to suddenly accept a new form of government, trade, and society? Every time you point this out to a Marxist, they always mention how America and Britain did horrible things too. And that's true, but that doesn't absolve all these leftist countries of their own crimes.

Hey guys, we survived Irma pretty well. As I was expecting, it didn't hit as badly as we were warned it would- hit went down to a category 2 when it hit us, and now it's just a tropical storm. But we lost power right when I decided to check the board last night. That lasted about 12 hours.
