One of my favorite things is something I've discovered at Hooters- the Snake Bite, which combines Angry Orchard with Guinness. Although I substitute Angry Orchard with Red's sometimes, since the gas station by the house never carry AO.

I'll be going to my first anime con tomorrow. I friend from school told me about it (she'll be cosplaying with her friends as Panty and Stocking).

I'm only particularly interested in the Q&A/autograph stuff, and maybe buying some shit.

You know what I just don't see?

Why people love whisky. I drink it when the social "occasion is right". But I just end up forcing it down really slowly. The taste, even the smell, is just something I instinctively reject.

One of the better tasting whiskeys I've tried was Canadian Mist. It goes down like iced tea with just a mild burn. Not even kidding.
What's weird is not being able to readily get this in N.S. The only reason I was able to try it was when friends of my mother drove to Cape Cod for a week and then brought some back.

I can't speak for every anime con out there, but you'll probably enjoy yourself. I went to my first con back in '06 at Anime North in Toronto and never once regreted it. I've already assembled my two nephews, a coworker and his wife to go back again this May.

Same here. There's a ridiculous amount of stuff that goes on all at once. Be sure to get a schedule of events so you can plan accordingly. (PROTIP: If you can be at the dealer's room on the last day of the con (particularly the last hours of the day), you could be able to walk away with some great deals on merchandise - They don't like to bring unsold stuff back with them!)

Well, on Thursday my family went to Connecticut since that is where my brother and his now wife got married. Rehearsal went OK, then we had the dinner, which was pretty nice.

Got to say the wedding ceremony was pretty sweet. They had some young kids sing the songs in the mass and they pretty stellar. I also had to escort my parents, put the rings on the plate, and a bunch of other stuff.

As for the reception, 2 hours of eating, 2 hours of dancing. Since I was the best man, I gave a speech wishing my brother and his wife the best of luck in their new life together, and for her to go easy on my brother. I danced for a little bit, posed for pictures, and even gave a gift to them. Then after the dance hall closed, I just went back to my room, my shoulder was hurting me, probably from the suspenders from the Tuxedo I had to wear. Took some pain pills and they seemed to work.

Now, I'm just planning what I'm going to do with my brother's room, since according to my folks, I can move in there sometime in March, since apparently, my parents haven't even cleaned out the stuff from when my Grandma died.

Cripes. A disgusting customer loudly trying to talk his gf and her friend into having a threeway while calling my coworker "babe" and calling another "jeans" while staring at her ass, another couple having an incredibly uncomfortable argument in the parking lot, and some psychopath basically spying on us for three hours while asking employees random questions about what they're doing and asking if random things are for sale and making us think we're about to die. All this during a quickly escalating snowstorm.

I need to get the flying fuck out of retail.

Trouble for me is, they actually like me at this place. I just got my third promotion in under two years earlier this month; I work in the meat department now (no longer a cashier, fuck yeah), and as anyone who's worked at a grocery store knows, this is one of the only places in such an environment that you can actually make fairly decent money in. This is my fourth job overall, I've never had that kind of success anywhere up this point. Most of my bosses in the past have hated my guts, but apparently I'm doing something right at this place.

It's troubling to me though, because I know this isn't what I want to do for the rest of my life (oh God no), and I can't stand working with the public, but I don't know what else to really do. The job climate around here is a joke, and I'm just not the kind of guy that has any interest in going back to school. College is not for everyone, especially not for me.

So yeah, I can't get another job (I haven't even gotten an interview in months), and I hate dealing with customers and general retail bullshit overall... but on the opposite, I'm moving up, my job doesn't really feel "stagnant" because I'm working at different stores in the region now (as opposed to just being at the same store every day like I was), and I got a decent raise, with the opportunity to make a pretty good living down the road. It's conflicting to say the least.

I know how you feel man. Everyone I know, and I mean everyone, has been pushing me to go back to college. But if I have learned anything from college, it's simply that I just don't do well in college. I flunked out twice. I got my useless liberal arts degree. I've looked at all the fields I can study over and over, and nothing screams "you'll be interested in this for the rest of your life!", and yet, everyone's dead set on me going back to learn programming or whatever. I've been out for 3 years now, and with a hatred for college and a hatred for this job, and the lack of any place better hiring, I feel like I'm just stuck. Still stuck with the parents, still no girlfriend, still working with a bunch of high school kids and an insanely annoying customer base.

Errrgh.

Ugh, some asshole stole my laundry detergent when I left in in the laundry room AND my phone didn't charge last night for some reason so I didn't wake up on time. This day aint off  to a very good start. 

Oh, but yesterday was interesting. It's like everyone around me where I am in NYC is a fan of anime. Like, first my classmates were talking about DBZ, Naruto, IY and stuff. Then this girl I know from another class tells us that because their teacher was sick or something that they just spent the day watching FLCL. Then when I went to this local bookstore and bought some cheap comics and the second Trigun Maximum omnibus, I had a discussion with the cashier about it and then Looney Tunes (cause I also got a LT comic, since it was only like 25 cents and I needed something to put down on the free table at the comics-swap). Afterwards, when I went to B&N and did their buy 2 get 1 free deal on Viz manga to get the first three volumes of Magi, I had a discussion with another cashier about the series and also One Piece. Finally, at the comics swap, this girl brought a real, honest to god volume of Shonen Ace from like, 2009. Why did she even have that?! I mean, I didn't take it because there were only three series I recognized in there (Haruhi Suzumiya (who was on the cover to boot), Keroro Gunso, and Deadman Wonderland), but still, I don't see real copies of japanese manga magazines in real life every day.

It was quite a cool day to be an anime/manga fan.

So, I don't typically get sick, but I came down with something awful over the past 2 days. Ironically I'm doing an Infectious Disease rotation at Hunterdon Medical Center, but I'm almost completely certain that I didn't catch anything from there. My dad came down with a bad case of flu earlier in the week, and just as he was getting over it, My brother and I picked it up. Yesterday was so bad that I had to leave work early since I was getting worse by the minute, and I felt so dizzy that I could barely drive home properly. Then I got into bed and literally couldn't get out of bed and walk around. This is also the worst possible time to get sick since I have a huge case presentation on Tuesday that I need to start working on. Thankfully I'm feeling good enough for now to at least be able to sit up and get some work done.
