Shit, if you didn't see this commercial during your viewings of ACME Hour or Rugrats reruns, then you most definitely didn't grow up in the 90s.

Took me a while to realize Pizza Head was a parody of Mr. Bill. But that aside, I can't remember the last time Pizza Hut had a campaign with any semblance of personality since this one. But then again, its probably hard to market greasy pizza to kids since, ya 'know...I don't remember this one lasting long to be honest. The X-Men and Goosebumps promotions I do clearly remember though, Fox Kids ran the hell out of those spots.
Haha, I had that basketball featured in the second video.  So strange to think that a pizza place would give you a free basketball, but I also remember sometime around 1997 or so getting a demo disc for the PlayStation that had Crash and Spyro on it, among others.

THAT FUCKING AD

Knew what it was as soon as I saw the guy reading the newspaper. I was able to recite the entire script of the commercial along with the people in it...

Yeah son. I remember seeing this during reruns of the Rugrats. I forget how many years this was on TV since it felt like they aired this ad during every summer break I had.

YOU CALL NOW.

I'LL CALL NOW.

Ohhhhh yeah, I remember this one. This was a fixture on almost every channel I watched back then; Nick, CN, you name it, this commercial was THERE.

...oh, and speaking of nostalgic commercials, I'm sure we all remember this one.

Before he took over the network completely.  Shit, I remember being in the sixth grade(the fall immediately after the show premiered), and along with one other kid I was the only one in my class who actually watched the show.  I remember singing the song or quoting "That smell.  That smelly smell. That smelly smell that smells, smelly!" and no one knew what it was from.  Good ol' days.

I also remember how much episodes like "Naughty Nautical Neighbors" used to be reran.  I still don't like that episode...

Late to the punch, but here's a little gaming christmas commercial I found amusing.

Anyone remember this commercial?  Somebody actually ended up collecting the 7 million points required to obtain the jet, and when Pepsi refused to give it to him, he sued.  He lost on the grounds that the commercial was supposed to be a joke, and Pepsi later reran the commercial but changed the number to 700 million points.

How many of you guys were in grade school when Pokemon and Digimon were airing on tv on rival networks? You remember arguing over which one is better? Trying to one-up your friends with whatever new game you bought? Some of you even throwing shipping into the equation? How about I just go ahead and ask which movie you saw in theaters:

Only one person I knew was in to Digimon, and he was so kind to give me all of his Pokemon cards that his dad had given him(one of them was a Kabutops, I remember that much).  It was all about the Pokeymans back then, and I think to most people Digimon seemed like a rip-off.  I don't really remember anything rivaling Pokemon's popularity until Yu-Gi-Oh!, but by then I was in high school, skateboarding, and over all the card games.

Oh, and this wasn't grade school for me, it was middle school.

I saw the first Pok?mon Movie in theaters, while Digimon I didn't see until I rented it from Blockbuster. I dragged my dad to take me to see it in an old theater in my town that's no longer around. I still miss that theater in a way.

Spark Of Spirit

The Digimon movie didn't play here but I did see the first Pokemon movie in theater. But I was a bigger Digimon fan for everything but the games.

The Digimon movie was better though, if only because it had "Our Wargame" in it.

Yes, even though it was a godawfully butchered version of Our War Game, even that was still more epic than anything the first Pokemon movie could muster up. And I AM saying this out of nostalgia, since while I acknowledge that they are both bad when I see them today, I did genuinely enjoy the Digimon movie more as a kid. That said, after watching Our War Game in Japanese I can only ever go back to the dub if I want a good laugh at just how much they screwed up that picture.

You didn't like Digimon World? I only played the 3rd one but it was pretty sweet, and I played the shit out of Rumble Arena.

I'm pretty sure I got a chance to see both movies at some point. I know I hitched a ride with my cousin to the Pokemon one, and I went with my friends to see the Digimon one. My sister insists I cried during The First Movie, but I'm sure I didn't. The "Wargame" part of Digimon was all kinds of fucking awesome. Too bad it got followed up with that shitty 02 movie.

Spark Of Spirit

I remember playing a Digimon World game but remember nothing about it now. It was a long time ago, though.

Yeah, but at least that one makes sense in the American version. Try saying that about the last segment. Ick.

But yeah, the Japanese version is better.

I think what really baffled me about the Digimon movie was how they tried to essentially combine 3 completely unrelated Digimon short-films into one movie, and tie it together as a coherent story revolving around some nobody of a character from the Adventure 02 portion of them movie. Even as a kid I thought that was kind of ridiculous. I could kind of understand them tying the first 2 parts together, since even though they took place years apart at least they were both related to Adventure season 1 and both had Tai in it, even if he was basically just a toddler in the first part.
