Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

Well, LucasArts didn't exactly produce consistent quality in the games that they put out (which were mostly Star Wars games, but they had some other original titles as well), but they did publish some truly awesome games like the Jedi Knight and Knights of the Old Republic games.

That said, I'm probably not as torn up about this as everyone else because if I'm not mistaken LA was mainly just a producing and publishing company. Its not like they were the core developers for most of the games that they put out. Still, it is kind of sad to see a once big-name company like that go down, but stuff like that is happening all the time, so I'm pretty desensitized to it by now.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, LucasArts was an excellent company. After the 90's? Not so much.

I certainly feel bad for the people who lost their jobs, but LA will not be missed.

I can hear Dalek yawning from here.

While it's sad to see people lose their jobs, I haven't enjoyed a LucasArts game (that wasn't a remake/re-release) in a LONG time.

Yeah, I haven't even been interested in a single game of theirs since Battlefront 2. I think I might have played Lego Star Wars a couple times, but that's about it. Their last truly excellent release was KOTOR 2 IMO.

Rynnec

I can agree that LA hasn't made a really worthwhile game since Battlefron 2. At the same time though, I have a feeling that the future of Star Wars games won't get much better from here.

Is it even possible to get worse than Kinect Star Wars, though?

Spark Of Spirit

I'd say the only thing I'd be worried about would be re-releases of the back catalog in the future. Because we all know that is one thing Disney is pretty awful at doing.

It is disheartening to see that both Factor 5 and LucasArts are gone now since they made so many great games in the Star Wars universe. (Even Free Radical who was working on one) Unfortunately, what studios are left that would even make a good Star Wars game?

A few months ago I would have said I wanted Gearbox to make a Republic Commando sequel , but with the whole Colonial Marines debacle, I'm not so sure anymore.

Didnt F5 lose it with Lair? I heard that game was pretty dissappointing.

Spark Of Spirit

Yeah, Lair's failure and a deal with Brash Entertainment over a Superman game killed them outright. Which is a shame because Lair aside their games were and are phenomenal.

I'm...not surprised. Considering how Disney works, I'm surprised that this didn't happen much sooner.

Yeah, it's not a tragic loss, but an uncalled one ever since. LA hasen't been the same since they started making only Star Wars games.

Yeah, pretty much this. The Jedi Knight, Knights of the Old Republic, Starfighter, and Battlefront games were excellent, but those were more the exception rather than the rule. They were also responsible for releasing a lot of god-awful Star Wars games (and some other games in general), even before this generation.

Well, at any rate, I'll go ahead and list my top 3 favorite Star Wars games in honor of the now late LA, anyways (I know they produced other stuff, but I've really mostly only played their Star Wars titles):

1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
2. Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast
3. Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter

Honorable Mentions: Jedi Knight (Dark Forces II), Jedi Academy, Starfighter (original), Knights of the Old Republic 2, Battlefront 1 & 2, Super Star Wars trilogy, and that one Star Wars arcade game where you used that stick control (I can't remember the name of it)
