LET'S KICK SHEEEEELLLLL!!

I haven't played Super Turrican yet, so I hadn't heard that track. Would probably have made the list! Good stuff.

EDIT: Never mind, I just remembered that you linked me to it earlier. Guess I just forgot about it since I haven't actually played the game yet.

Spark Of Spirit

No worries.  :D

Oh also, I gotta say as much as I preferred the other two R&C games, I much preferred the soundtrack of the first game. It definitely had more of a unique style to it.

I definitely agree with you. There are some awesome tracks in the sequels, but none of the other OSTs even come close to touching the original's.

My top 10 NES game themes- one from each series:

Double Dragon II Final Boss - Epic and unstoppable
Contra - Jungle - The most iconic action game theme
Journey To Silius - "Space Colony Ruins" - Game music at its peak
Ninja Gaiden - Act 4-2/"Ryu's Determination" - THE NG theme, IMO
Duck Tales - Himalayas - This track feels like the show to me
StarTropics - Cave - Tropical Zelda, amazingly catchy
TMNT III - Scene 2 - This game is underrated in general
Batman - Streets Of Desolation - I miss old Sunsoft
Mega Man 2 - Wily Castle - Probably the most obvious one for obvious reasons
Super Mario Bros. 2 - Overworld - Yep, I like this more than the tracks from 1 and 3!

I might do one for other systems later, there's just so much goodness in game music.

Best DS music:

Hotel Dusk - Hangover Blues - I've always loved the noir-ish atmosphere this game pulled off. I wish we could have got the sequel here.
Contra 4 - Vile Red Falcon! [Stage 1] - GAMING IS BACK, LADIES
Henry Hatsworth & The Puzzling Adventure - Shammerdoodle - GET DOWN! Hugely underrated soundtrack
Sonic Rush - Ska Cha Cha - Jet Set Radio + Sonic = What do you think?
Monster Tale - Scratch Pit - Feels very Wonderboy
Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Day Travel - Not much to say
Phoenix Wright - Cornered - Whenever this pops up, you just KNOW things are getting crazy
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - Battle Theme - Think platformer meets RPG... Just like this series!
Mario Kart DS - Waluigi Pinball - Natch
Mega Man ZX - Green Grass Gradation - Not my favorite game, but great music

You're a flawed game but I love you. I'm seriously geeking out over nostalgia right now.

So since I finished Kirby's Return To Dreamland, let me be the first here to praise its awesome soundtrack.

Castle Area (My favorite stage tune)
Forest Area (Almost RPG-ish)
Funky Area (Basically)
Desert Area (One of my favorite desert themes)
Rainy Area (SO CATCHY)
Aurora Area (Reminds me of Earthbound)
Engine Area (Scrap Brain meets Kirby)
Magma Area (Epic and fast)
Boss Theme (Intense, especially on Hard)
Green Greens (This actually changes style from Game Boy-SNES-N64-DS!)

This is an amazing soundtrack. Seriously.

Is... is there seriously a level named Funky Area? That's fucking amazing. Loving the music for it.

Not really, most of the "themes" play during certain areas of stages whether they be swimming areas, mini-boss gauntlets, or set pieces. For instance there isn't really a "rainy" area, but it's called that to separate it from the other water themes. This game has a lot of good music.

That specific music usually plays during intense areas with lots of combat.
