Picked up DKC2 a bit the other day, and I cannot believe how many times I've raved about the music in this game and yet had completely forgotten to mention this absolutely wonderful track.

One of the absolute best soundtracks in gaming history, IMO. Dave Wise is just that good.

I was feeling a little bit nostalgic for some Myst recently. Whether or not you think the games are overrated, the music is still unbelievable--I think it was a real game changer (dur hur, puns) for the way you listen to a game's soundtrack.

I just learned of a YouTube user named Shady Paradox, who recreated the soundtrack for Myst III. Not remixed, recreated. He actually snagged the game's audio files and reproduced them to sound like the original for the highest-quality audio.

So ever since I beat Silent Hill 2 last night, this song (from the last hour of the game) has been in my mind. As a real song, it's not a whole lot. But it just fits the mood of its scene so perfectly, contributing to one of my favorite parts of the entire game.

I particularly like the final boss theme in that game. Much more intense which fits the tone of that battle. Part of the reason why 3D Land has my favorite Mario final boss fight... unless you count Yoshi's Island as a Mario game.

The soundtrack is pretty good.

This is my favorite track from the game. It reminds me of something like SM64 meets SMB3.

Is it? People seem to think it's a solid game, even if it's not one of the best Mario games. I agree with them.

It's the best portable Mario game by leagues, and the best 3D Mario without Galaxy in the title.

Saying it's "solid" is underrating it, IMO.

Hmm.

Anyhow, I never really got into video game music, at least not until MGS2. I was always busy trying not to mess up or die whether than pay attention to music. But now that I've gotten into the video game music I will say that there aren't many that stick out. The ones that do stick out sticks out big. MGS, Halo, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy, Darksiders 2, and God of war. I can't remember the names of the people that did these soundtracks, but they sound really good to me.

Also, I can't leave out Ryu's theme and Guile's theme. Those 2 theme's really gets me pumped when playing Street Fighter, and they get me even more pumped when playing Street Fighter 4. I think I'm of the few that actually like SF4 theme's more than the originals, but "shrugs".
