Big if true. I still want to know what made them think that making RS again was a good idea.

is there really a need for more Ren & Stimpy today? The show's content really seems like something better suited to stay in the 90's.
I don't think there is. Especially since Ren & Stimpy creation mostly just came from a guy who hated how the animation scene was back in those days. RS was basically counter-culture to the whole scene. Besides, animation is pretty much booming nowadays where you can get a lot of different content wherever you look. Doesn't matter if it's TV, streaming, or even internet made cartoons, you can find anything for anyone now.

Yeah, no matter how much you separate art from the artist, almost every press interview or discussion on the new R&S was always going to have one mention of "So why did they reboot a cartoon created by a guy who groomed underaged girls?" It's like remaking Fat Albert, because whoever remakes the show will keep having to explain why their version is separated from the original due to the creator's actions, yet somehow have to rationalize why they're making a reboot in the first place. Sure, one could argue that in a way they're "taking back" the brand from the soiled hands of the creator, similar to how modern Cthulhu Mythos writers peel away Lovecraft's views from the stories, but unlike Lovecraft, John K's still alive. No matter how much the new show attempted to distance itself from him, John K was always going to find some benefit from this even if he isn't paid a cent in residuals, whether it be through interviews or simply attention.

The Comedy Central series is still happening, and it's being animated by an all-woman studio.
