This is a public service announcement.

This, my friends, shares the winter season top spot with Lesbian Bear Storm for me.

If you have no idea what this is, it's based on a 2013 Anime Mirai short, Death Billiards.
QuoteAn old and a young man find themselves in a mysterious bar where they have to play a game of billiard. The bet: their lives.
Go watch it. Don't read too much about it before you've seen the short. Not only is the animation and art direction top notch, it turned my expectations on its head and was surprisingly thought provoking. You'll want to watch it at least twice, reflect on it in between and read other people's theories. Now get to it! :whip:

Honestly, it's rare that I hand out a 9 or 10 rating, but Death Billiards was a notch above for me and I found the execution pretty much flawless. Not to mention, the potential for a show is pretty much built into it from the start. I'm having difficulty containing my hype, guys. :shakeshakeshake:

P.S. The PV appears to contain clips from the short only, but we get a taste of the new soundtrack (which I'm liking a lot). Oh, and here are some more visuals: https://forums.hummingbird.me/t/death-parade-staff-cast-visuals-premiere-date-revealed/18003

Oh yeah, I remember Death Billiards. Didn't remember seeing this the last time I saw the anichart though.

It was confirmed only 2 weeks ago for January, and a couple days ago for the 9th.

Death Billiards was really great! This series is looking cool, too; I'll be sure to give it a watch!

Beyond the OP we'll assume everyone's watched DB.

So... Who do you guys think went to heaven or hell? ;)

Speaking of the devil: I know these companies have the rights and all, but it's really off-putting how they just use HorribleSubs for their streaming services.

HS isn't always the best quality, but I can respect them for their massive output every season. I mean, subbing 50 shows a week deserves a medal! But when respected companies like FUNi and CR just take those sub-professional releases, and stream them to people for actual money (without crediting HS) I think a line's been crossed. Don't you agree? :bleh:

That's why I'll never pay for their services. HS serves my needs just fine, thank you. :oo:

I'm honestly not sure if you're joking or not, but HorribleSubs actually just rips the official subs from Crunchyroll, Funimation, and the like. HS is not really a fansub group and their releases are probably the closest thing you can get to "illegal" subs.

^Yet only a few months earlier than that they said this:

QuoteWe have been around for 6 years and new people come along every day who don't know how our 'system' works. In case you didn't know it, we actually 'rip' (download and repackage) our anime from the two major providers of anime simulcasts, Crunchyroll and Funimation.

I dunno if they've changed what they do since then, but from what I've seen, I doubt it. I find it much more likely to believe that they are the ones stealing subs from FUNi and Crunchy, not the other way around.

I was joking too, in reference to that troll post. Keep forgetting about tone not coming across in text.

So, yeah, I think it's safe to say this had the best premiere of the season by a mile.
