The time has come for all the readers on the forum to come together and decide which is the greatest novel. Before we can begin nominating however, there are a few rules I'd like to go over. They are as follows:

Each member can nominate up to 25 novels, I may expand upon that number if necessary, but for now, that's what we'll start with.
Novels that are part of a series shall be nominated separately.
Finally, this tournament is for novels only; plays and short-story collections will be excluded. I'm on the fence on whether or not graphic novels should be allowed. Personally, I'd rather save them for an eventual greatest comic tournament, but I'd like to hear what you guys think.
Now that we've got all the boring stuff out of the way, let's start nominating. I'll get the ball rolling with the following:

Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart
Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy
I, Claudius by Robert Graves
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco

Comics should continue to have their own separate tournament.

Yeah, let's keep this competition for just novels. "Graphic novels" is just a another term for comic books, imo, and they should be saved for whenever we do a comics tournament.

Unfortunately, my complete lack of reading quality literature aside from a few classics means that I will not be abke to participate in this tournament. I really should read more novels. Still, I'll toss in a few nominations:

All of the ASOIAF books released so far by George R. R. Martin

All of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling

The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien (as one novel)

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

And Then There Were None (or Ten Little Indians) by Agatha Christie

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Battle Royale by Koushun Takami

The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum

Timeline by Michael Crichton

Congo by Michael Crichton

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The Godfather by Mario Puzo

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglass Adams

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

Also, just to be clear, I'm nominating both the ASOIAF and Harry Potter series as separate entries for each individual novel. I just didn't feel like listing out each one.

On the other hand, TLOTR was always originally meant to be just one book, and has been re-released as such, so I want to nominate it as one book as opposed to an entire series.

Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Perfectly.
By the way, guys: I'm planning to get this tournament started by Saturday, so if you haven't already nominated any novels, now would be the time. Thank you.
