I didn't even notice NG. That should be higher. Oh well.

Yes, it should be, but being that its a Japanese game that automatically hurt its chances be being anywhere near the top 50 on the list. Hell, whenever DMC gets ranked, it'll still be lower than God of War, mark my words on that. The thing about G4 is that they are incredibly and obviously biased towards Japanese games, and even if they rank them on the list they'll just as easily place any Western equivalents to them much higher, regardless of actual quality. I'm not debating the quality between Western and Japanese games myself, but I just wanted to point out G4's obvious preference of Western made games. I expect that Mario and Zelda will make it into the top 20 because even G4 can't deny their impact on the gaming industry as a whole, but I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see them outranked by the likes of an Uncharted or Call of Duty game, which is just bonkers in my book.

97. NBA 2K11
96. Guitar Hero 2
94. Braid
84. Wii Sports
Um...

Those games aside, this list is surprisingly respectable so far. Good on you, G4! :)

EDIT: Whoops, Star Wars Tie Fighter somehow made it into my quote. I love that game!

At this point, I had almost completely forgotten that Guitar Hero was even a thing.

I suppose I really shouldn't be all that surprised - the market for those games was at a pretty high peak in 2008-2009, even if it was mass over-saturation - so I guess at least one was bound to make it. Hopefully we don't see any more, though.

Well, the preview for tonights episode showed GoW, so there's still a chance DMC and Bayonetta will rank higher (slim as it may be).

I know right? It feels like it's been ages since GH was anywhere near relevant.

Neversoft and Harmonix killed themselves with the music sim genre. It's a good thing that they're hibernating, IMO.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

What really killed it, was stuff like DJ Hero. While normally, I would have gotten the game, but not when the peripheral needed to play it costs $100 dollars. That's just ridiculous.

Avaitor

Oh yeah, that was the final blow. Stuff like the Van Halen and Gren Day games didn't help matters, either.

I still think the Rocks the 80s one is the best Guitar Hero, simply because it's the most unconventional.  2 and 3 aren't bad, but outside of that I never really got attached to the games.  I can't believe they kept going to 6 though, that's crazy.

Rock Band I only played a little bit of the first one, but really by the point it was coming out I was kind of done with the games.

The first part of G4's list aired last night.

100. Pong
This was inevitable. But the concept has been massively improved on since it came out.
Quote99. Words With Friends
No comment.
Quote98. Pitfall
Great, and very influential game. Well deserved.
Quote97. NBA 2K11
Why not just list the franchise? It's not like they're all that different.
Quote96. Guitar Hero 2
... No. Rock Band 2 smokes it in every way. Almost the entirety of the soundtrack is RB DLC, too. So this is totally off.
Quote95. Burger Time
Ignoring GSF (come on, really?), this is a classic. Totally deserved.
Quote94. Braid
I've played way more than 100 games better than this.
Quote93. Star Wars: Tie Fighter
Oh wow, people remember the good Star Wars games!
Quote92. Galaga
Ace!
Quote91. The Sims
Inevitable.
Quote90. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
This might mean more of lesser games from this developer weren't higher up the list.
Quote89. Left 4 Dead
I prefer 2 (especially with the original's maps included) so I hope 2 doesn't show up down the list. One spot for the series is enough.
Quote88. Double Dribble (NES)
8-bit sports games > Modern sports games
Quote87. Mass Effect 2
I wonder why this is so low?
Quote86. OutRun
Putting a classic above a modern WRPG!?!? I might have this place pegged wrong!
Quote85. Silent Hill 2
Too low. This game was very important.
Quote84. Wii Sports
This must have killed them to place it this high.
Quote83. Ninja Gaiden (2004)
I guess this means the NES original will be the highest on here.
Quote82. Super Smash Bros. Melee
As long as Brawl lists higher, I'm good.
Quote81. Resident Evil
No argument here. Should have specified Director's Cut, though.

No CoD yet... There's like 8 of those. Watch them take up most of the top 15.

Or the remake. >_>
I think that'll be on its own later on.

4 will be the highest and 2 won't crack the top 50.

Yeah, I think you're right.

Quote2 won't crack the top 50.
:(

I just hope Deus Ex is on here somewhere. Preferably in the top 20.

Spark Of Spirit

Deus Ex (the original) will probably be in the top 30, I'd imagine. Same with Half Life 2, Halo 1, and DOOM (but probably not 2) being the non-CoD entries.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

I'm not sure if they're only ranking one game per franchise, but if they are then I believe Halo 2 will make the list above the others just because that one was a big deal for bringing multiplayer online for the series and the people at G4 seem to praise that Halo game the most. If they do rank more than 1 game per franchise, then I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 Halo games make it into the top 50, which I think is kind of crazy as only the first one really deserves to be anywhere on this list, IMO.

Spark Of Spirit

I would hope they pick the most well-rounded to go the highest. Halo 1 might not be online, but it does have the whole package compared to the other games. But especially 2 for having the worst single player campaign.

That said, I have no idea how they're doing this. But I think if we see any N64 game that's not OOT or SM64, I'll be very surprised.
