I doubt it. I get the feeling that aside from Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and maybe some key Nintendo franchises, no other classic NES games will rank that high on this list if they aren't part of major franchises like those. There are some exceptions that made it on the list so far, but those are low spots. I just feel like the NES Ninja Gaiden games will most likely get overlooked entirely, and may not be placed later down the list (and thus not be part of the list at all). Of course if they do rank classic Ninja Gaiden higher up on this list, that'll earn them a ton of bonus respectability points in my book for actually remembering some of the true classics besides just the obvious ones. That said, if any NES NG game deserves a spot on this list, its NG2, IMO.

It's a shame, too. The NES has one of the best game libraries there is. But I would definitely put 2 on there over 1, but like Double Dragon's NES installments reviewers seem to prefer the original despite the sequels totally improving on the original ones.

Watched a bit of the second one. I wasn't paying too much attention, so I can't recall what number they placed in, but I do know that Prince of Persia:Sands of Time, Unreal Tournament, Wolfenstein 3D, and God of War III made the list.

I would hope they pick the most well-rounded to go the highest. Halo 1 might not be online, but it does have the whole package compared to the other games. But especially 2 for having the worst single player campaign.

That said, I have no idea how they're doing this. But I think if we see any N64 game that's not OOT or SM64, I'll be very surprised.

Don't forget Goldeneye.

It depends. There are a lot of sites that won't give any pre-Halo 1 shooter the time of day.

Yeah, I liked 2's multiplayer just fine, but I unlike most people I don't think that excuses its weak campaign mode, which is easily the most disappointing campaign mode that I've ever played in a Halo game. I also don't think that Reach should go on this list, since despite the fact that I really enjoy its campaign mode, I do feel that it ironically dropped the ball on the multiplayer aspect of things, which I'm actually fine with since I'm not a big MP guy anyways, but I do think that automatically makes Halo 1 the best game in the series by default since it has the right balance of a great campaign mode (minus The Library) and great multiplayer, even if its bare-boned in terms of game types (I only really care about Slayer, anyways) and can't "officially" be played online unless you own the PC or MAC versions of the game.

I actually feel that Star Fox 64 and Banjo Kazooie probably have a decent shot of making this list as well, giving the good reputation both of those games have, even among Nintendo haters like G4 apparently.

True, but G4 is one of the few videogame media outlets that acknowledged the fact that FPS' existed before Halo. (at least last time I checked)

I'm surprised to see Star Fox on here. As much as I love it, I'm not sure if I'd put it too much higher on my own list for the absolute greatest games.

This list isn't too bad so far, really. Although Mega Man 2 should be higher and I wouldn't dare to put an Assassin's Creed game over Sands of Time (as long as that's the last we see of that franchise, it's all good though).

80. Gears Of War 3

As a person who doesn't typically like these types of generic TPS games, it is still a decent game and I have played it twice, actually. That said, there's no way in hell I'd ever put it on a top 100 list, as there are just much better games out there. If a Gears of War game had to be on this list, it might as well have been the first one since the cover system wasn't such a worn out concept when that game came out and it did refine it and could be argued to be an important TPS game in its own right. The 3rd game is just a more polished rehash, and nothing more than that.

Quote75. Fallout 3

I'm not a fan of this game, obviously, but I'm actually content with it getting this spot since I would've expected it to be much higher on a list like this.

Quote74. Star Fox 64

Called it, Desensitized. :P

Quote73. Mega Man 2

Should be much higher on this list, IMO, but its still good to see it here at all.

Quote72. Mortal Kombat

I was never an MK fan, but I suppose it deserves its spot on a list like this, and the ranking that it got seems to be pretty fair and in the right place.

Quote70. Star Wars Arcade

Was this the stick-based arcade game where you could pick between different scenarios in any of the original 3 movies? Because if so, that game was awesome, and it totally deserves to be here on this list. If not, then I'm not sure which Star Wars arcade game they're referring to, and can't really comment on it.

Quote69. Double Dragon

I guess Desensitized called this one making it on the list over its superior sequel.

Quote68. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time

I actually still need to play this game some day.

Quote67. Minecraft

I honestly don't get the appeal, but I suppose I can respect its creativity well enough.

Quote66. Assassin's Creed 2

I hated the first game. That was what got me to stop trusting any big time game journalists's reviews. I haven't played AC2, but what I've seen of it gives me little reason to think otherwise.

Quote64. NBA Jam

I'm glad that this game made it over 2K11, but I still think that NBA Street Volume 2 is the best basketball video game ever made, and one of the best sports games ever for that matter.

Quote63. Wolfenstein 3D

An undeniably important game that kick-started the FPS genre into action. It deserves to be here, or arguably even a little bit higher, but to be honest I think it ranks just fine over here since as important as it is, other games have long since outdone it at its own game (and I'm strictly referring to old-school FPS games, in that regard). I do fully expect either DOOM or DOOM II to rank within the top 50 of this list if they were able to acknowledge an old-school FPS like this one.

Quote61. God Of War 3

Sorry, but I can never see the justification in this game ranking higher than Ninja Gaiden. Yeah, I'm biased, but it just seems so plainly obvious to me which game has more substance and care put into its design, and just has general better gameplay for that matter. If this same game was released with average graphics, it flat-out wouldn't hold up as much. By today's standards, NG's graphics are outdated but the game still has more depth and content to offer than almost any other modern action game.

You should have seen how much they were wanking the story when they were talking about that one. :D

Assuming that they're not going with "1 game per series" with this, then if Megaman 3 or MMX make it higher, then I'm fine with 2's place on the list.

The one with the grid-like graphics? If so, then that's the one that got on there.

Agreed. But on the bright side, this makes it more likely that DMC and Bayonetta will make it higher than GoW.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

I think DMC will (it better), but I doubt that Bayonetta will make the list at all, even though it deserves to be high up there. I feel like they'll overlook it since its simply put just a lot less popular than NG, DMC, and GOW. Sure, those of us that talk about games passionately on the Internet know of its greatness as common knowledge, but most mainstream gamers have probably forgotten that this game even exists. And yeah, I know it sold over a million copies worldwide (or at least I heard it did), but keep in mind how small a fraction of the mainstream gamer population that makes up.

If it does make the list, then that'll be awesome, but I'm calling right now that they'll probably just leave it out, especially because of that grand bias they have towards Japanese games. I mean, I feel as though they'll almost grudgingly have to rank DMC over GOW (because, lets face it, GOW, and arguably the modern Ninja Gaiden games as we know them now, would not even exist without DMC). I don't think that they'd rank Bayonetta over it as well if they feel that they can get away with leaving it out due to its smaller fan-base (even if it is a dedicated one).

I do hope that I'm wrong, though.

Which is interesting since IGN of all places gave it a 9.5/10 and declared it one of the best games of all time.

Assassin's Creed 2 shouldn't be on the list at all. EK should still play the game though.

Mega Man 2 is way too low on the list. It's the best game in the series.

I have also been thinking that there's no way Bayonetta should make the list. Especially since it would have likely been mentioned already (and IMO deserves to be around the spots that have already been listed). There's no way DMC will skip getting mentioned, especially after they named Ninja Gaiden. There's no way. But watch them put GOW1 ahead of it...

Bayo should be in the top 30 IMO. But Ninja Gaiden should have also been...

I hope at least one Ratchet & Clank game makes this list, but I doubt that will happen.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

If this were my list, NG, DMC, and Bayo would all be in the top 20, if not the top 10, but I guess too many people would complain about those being ranked so high since most of the gaming community doesn't have the respect for the hack n' slash genre that I do, or at least those games in particular.
