I wonder how Foggle's going to react when he learns that news of Yakuza 1 & 2 HD apparently leaked?

I'd react pretty well if they tweaked 1's combat system to be like the sequels, that's the only thing holding it back.

I'd be excited for that news if there was an XBOX360 version planned for that release, but since I know that Yakuza will always be a Playstation exclusive, my best bet is still just to buy the PS2 versions of those games online.

PLEASE BE GOOD LIKE MGS AND NOT BAD LIKE SILENT HILL OR MEDIOCRE LIKE RATCHET PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

If this happens, I really hope they add dual audio for Yakuza 1. The dub is good, but you can't beat the unflinchingly badass Japanese acting when it comes to this series.

Ratchet's out by the end of August. It seems to have a Sly 4 demo!

I'd kill for Kenzan to be put in there for the NA release. I'd even pay the full $59.99 for all three.  :-X

I really hope they fix all the bugs by the time the NA release happens. The games aren't unplayable like Silent Hill 3, but they're in a pretty pathetic state at the moment, and UYA's port job especially is downright shameful.

Honestly, I recommend just importing Kenzan. It's quite cheap now, a complete English guide exists, and there's a full translation of the cutscenes on YouTube. One of the most import-friendly games ever at this point.

Yakuza 1 will desperately benefit from the PS3's decreased load times. They don't even have to tweak the combat system, I'll be happy with less loading and Japanese voices alone. And they can just use the dub translation as subtitles for the Japanese audio track. Sure, they'll be wrong about 15% of the time, but I don't even care at this point. Sega needs to release this over here to give the fans a chance to buy it so that we can all show our support for an English release of Yakuza 5.

Man, I don't know what it is but I just can't get into the other versions of Ys I & II other than the Turbografx version. It strikes the perfect balance of just being simple and arcade enough with having the right amount of RPG and story input. The other versions are either simple to a fault or too cumbersome with trying to modernize the game while leaving in the old school elements which just jar.

The art design also strikes the balance between old school 8-bit and 16-bit, which while it isn't amazing, fits the game like a glove.

Also, the music. It still manages to sound like game music while still being really varied and exciting. I'm not a big fan of most of the "remixes" which seem to want to be soundtrack music instead of game music. The TG16 version has music like this which is just perfect.

I mean, it's probably not "technically" the best, but it is the most fun version for me to play.

Hey EK, the place I went to today had NBA Street 2 (but it was bundled with 3 other sports games I didn't want) and NBA Street 3. Have you played the latter? Is there a big difference in the two?

And whatever happened to the EA BIG label?

Admittedly I haven't played too much of 3, but from what I played of it I felt that it was a decent sequel. It changed some of the gameplay elements up and it felt a little less smooth control-wise for some reason than Vol. 2 did, but I do believe it had a bit more content to it. Maybe some day I'll look into it some more. General fan consensus is that 2 is pretty much the best in the series, though. It also got the best critical reception, though all 3 games in the series were critical successes, at that.

Anyways, how much is the bundle for? If its for around $15, I'd say that you're definitely getting you're money's worth with the NBA Street games (even if it was just Vol. 2). If its more than that, though, then you'd probably want to wait until the game turned up by itself for a cheaper price.

I'm guessing that EA shut them down, just like how they did all of their other talented developers from last-gen. :-\

Spark Of Spirit

It might have been for either $9.99 or $19.99. I was considering getting it, but I was in a hurry so I only grabbed the other two I mentioned, and the other three didn't look all that appealing from what I remember.

It'll probably be there next time, so maybe I'll just grab them both and try all of them!  :D I've been in the mood for some good sports games.

If you can find it for a reasonable price, I highly recommend Sega Soccer Slam. Its easily my favorite sports game, and the most underrated one that I know of. Its an extremely fun party game and has a lot of single-player content as well.

My favorite sports game might be NBA Jam 99 on the N64. Or at least, it's the one I can have the most fun on. My friends and I can have a blast with that game to this day.

EA Big made SSX Tricky, right?

I believe the EA studio that did James Bond Everything Or Nothing made the Dead Space series series so there's that.

MVP Baseball 2005 is the best sports game ever made.  Madden before EA got the exclusive NFL license and stopped giving a shit is a close second.

He said he doesn't care for Ninja Gaiden, either, but he admits that he has never played any of them because he's not interested in their style.

Here's the thing, Kamiya is free to think what he wants and I won't hold it against him since he's a talented game developer. It doesn't mean you really have to care what he thinks, though. I mean, just because I respect a developer doesn't mean I have to agree with them (for the record, I disagree with a lot of Itagaki's opinions on games).
