So what would you guys say are "perfect games"

Actually, to be honest, there isn't a single game in the world that I see as "perfect." Don't get me wrong, the games that I love the most are great and I would never want them to be changed (including minor flaws that, honestly, I have come to think as a part of the games that I love in general and kind of just deal with), but that isn't to say that any of them are perfect. I can admit plenty of little flaws for my favorite games, but the main point is that to me, they are only "little" flaws. In the grand scheme of things they really do nothing to bother me. For example, Ninja Gaiden Black is my favorite game ever, but it has a camera that can "sometimes" (people really over exaggerate the camera's problems, though, which are barely even noticeable in the first game) be off-center and cause you a little annoyance, and the platforming segments kind of suck since the controls aren't meant for great platforming, but both of those types of instances happen so rarely and infrequently in the game that in the long run it does basically nothing to hamper my overall enjoyment of the game.

Having said that, out of all of the games on my top 10 favorites list, I'd actually say that Yoshi's Island (my 3rd favorite game of all-time) is the closest to being a perfect game. Honestly there are no real flaws that I can see with the game, except for Mario's annoying crying and the fact that it is admittedly a really easy game (but its just so much fun and has tons of secrets and overall replay value to make up for that). Of course, if its the closest to being perfect you may wonder why its not my favorite game of all-time and just in my top 3 instead, and that's because honestly while both NGB and OoT have their definite negatives, each of those games honestly reach such high-points that for me, personally, few to no other games have ever even come close to matching for me.

It's next to REmake on my list. Kind of hard to see due to the parenthetical statement, though. :P

It's been years since I've played Sonic 1 to completion, and I... uh... actually got Labyrinth confused with Marble Zone, which a lot of people also seem to hate for some reason. I forgot about Labyrinth Zone entirely, but after watching gameplay videos, I remembered that I loathe it. One of the worst levels in any 2D Sonic game.

I probably only hate Spring Yard for the same reason that I hated Planet Wisp Act 1 in Generations at first; I'm bad at the game and always get stuck on the worst possible path. :P

Oh, not to interrupt, but there's an Iwata Asks on Spirit Camera (Fatal Frame 3DS) currently up.

I can see your point, EK. While nothing is really perfect, there are games that I can go into and just don't really see problems or issues that hamper any enjoyment for me. Obviously for me, I'm more likely to notice problems in a 3D game before a 2D one since I'm weird like that, but it makes me appreciate the 3D ones all the more when it really clicks with me.

I also love Planet Wisp Act 1.  :cop:

Cool, time to watch that video! EDIT: Don't know why I thought it'd be a video...

I love Fatal Frame, as you know. ;)

So do I, now that I've actually figured out how to play it properly...

I think the idea of an AR horror game is absolutely brilliant. It probably won't be too scary, but it'll definitely be surreal and trippy as hell. Fatal Frame is the best horror series ever.

Spark Of Spirit

I'm really interested in Spirit Camera, and am glad they decided to make a new game instead of porting the older games... But I'm also interested in Rhythm Thief and Kid Icarus!  The 3DS is starting to heat up!

I notice a lot of people tend to hate Planet Wisp Act 1 even after mastering it, which is a shame. I mean, it has no bottomless pits which is incredible for a last level yet remains challenging, and there's a LOT of level. But I do agree that there's too much Spike wisp when in Colors, the wisps were completely optional for the most part. I want more 2D Sonic games by this team!

I'm glad Iwata shot down the idea of porting a past FF to the 3DS. It'd be pointless.

I'm pretty bummed out about the next home console Fatal Frame game being a Wii port of 2. In all honesty, the PS2 games had much better controls than 4...

So while I wait for the 3DS version of Rayman Origins to come out some time this decade (thanks again, Ubisoft!) I've been playing it co-op with my friend on his 360.

The game is pretty awesome and a lot of fun (WAY better than Rayman 1) but the ice levels are AWFUL. Some of the worst traction in a platformer ever, and jumps are way too finicky and hard to control. Such a blight on an otherwise excellent platformer.

Man, I wish they would stop remaking Double Dragon 1. The game was perfected with Double Dragon Advance.

It's the NES version of 2 that deserves the remake love. Especially for having one of the best game soundtracks ever, yet being so overlooked.

It was such a letdown to see that WayForward game. Sprite detail like Contra 4, Double Dragon Advance's combat, and NES 2's great levels had a ton of potential.

I just beat Shinobi III once again cementing it as one of my favorites. I managed to make it up to the final boss only dying about 4 times (all my fault), and the game is just perfectly balanced.

A few things that you need to keep in mind with this game:

1. You can double jump only just as you fall from the peak of your first jump.
2. If you do not learn when to wall jump, you will not get through certain levels without a lot of trial and error.
3. You should never use Ninjitsu unless you're absolutely certain you're gong to die. Don't waste it.
4. Pushing attack when you run initiates a Katana slash and you will instantly dodge any attack during this move (but if you run into an enemy with your body they will knock you out of it... You won't be hurt, though)
5. Pushing down and attack in the air gives you an awesome jump kick.

Those 5 things will make the game much more manageable when you know what you can and can't do.

A neat tidbit: In the options, choose 00 shurikens, then play the sound effect for a shuriken. You will have infinite shurikens.

The Contra series is 25 years old.

Will Konami finally reveal that Contra game they teased over 2 years ago? Will we finally see that 3DS game? Or will we get absolutely nothing?

It's always a gamble with Konami.

Kart Racers:

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Diddy Kong Racing
Crash Team Racing
Super Mario Kart
Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing

IMO, the best in the genre.

After playing OoT 3D, I really realized just how much later Zelda games like to stall. You know, the way WW, TP, and especially SS like to throw fetch quests at you for no real reason other than to extend game length? I really appreciate how OoT has none of that. It just gets to the point, and is done. MM did this equally well, but after that... I'm not totally sure why they started to think it was necessary. A 25 hr game beats a 40 hr game that's loaded with fluff.
