I'm sure the choices will drop off hard by the late 90s.

Just make the list longer!

#61
But Casey Kasem only went up to the top 40.

I could go to 100, but then I'd start running out of choices.

although yeah, the further I go, the fewer songs I see the need to add on here. To give you a reference point, the only song from my list that you'll likely see on is "Hey Ya!". "Skyscraper" peaked at 10, so it's out, and I can certainly find 40 better songs than "Lose Yourself", as much as I love it.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?

Well, whatever you decide I'm eager to see it.

I'm always eager to discuss good pop music.

You probably could have filled a list with Celine Dion tunes. She's one of the few divas I just can't stomach. Never could.

Ironically, My Heart Will Go on is probably the only one on your list I'd be able to listen to without my ears being tortured and defiled (Don't think I've heard Number 3, so I can't judge).

I can't understand what anyone sees in Katy Perry for the life of me. Her songs are possibly the most shallow I've ever heard (and quite tasteless too, if "I kissed a girl" and "Ur so gay" are any indication), even her supposedly deeper meaning songs like Firework are pretty shallow since it's obvious she's not doing this out of heart. I've listened to a Lady GaGa song or two, and while I don't like her songs, I can at least see why they would appeal to some people.

"California Gurls" is the song that made me despise Katy Perry. I didn't care about her in any way with her first album, but when this came on... ugh.

It's an ugly mesh between a Beach Boys and Ke$ha knock-off, contains such a godawful chorus, has possibly the worst, most cashed-in rap appearance added into a pop song, and is written more embarrassingly than Willow Smith's crap. And of course, not a week has passed by with at least one Katy Perry song in the top 10 ever since this song came out. Proving that talent and creativity means nothing.

And I just can't stand Celine Dion at all. Or Titanic. Seriously, it's just Gone With the Wind on a boat. There's nothing else to the film.

I just don't get what people see in Katy Perry. Her songs are shallow even by bubblegum pop song standards, her image is completely unremarkable ( despite supposedly being "quirky"), she's basically just your average everyday pop artist.

I dunno, all these artists get treated as geniuses, but they aren't doing anything even remotely original or well written.

I just realized that "Where the Streets Have No Name" only hit #13, so I'm swapping that out for "With or Without You". Like it matters though.

Also, as an east coaster, I have even more reason to hate the existence of "California Gurls".

West Coast is the best coast, East Coast is the least coast.  :>

And California Gurls is awful.  Not really a fan of California Girls either, honestly.
It doesn't matter what you say, soon you'll be dead anyway.

I was going to make another list, but it was going to end up as a post just trashing "Nothing Else Matters". So I just gave up on it.

I had to bump this thread.

Some honorable mentions and a major change to the original list if you care to read.

I'm really not big on any modern R'n'B or hip hop in pop music (it doesn't compare to TLC, J5 or the like), but I find it hard to argue with most other choices... I mean, there isn't exactly a vast pool to pick from.

Wait, which song in particular are you referring to?
