I haven't been keeping up with RE6 much. Have they shown much horror?

From what I've seen, Leon's looks like RE 4 with some elements of slower-paced horror games (e.g. Silent Hill and Amnesia), Jake's looks like RE 4 with the chase aspect of RE 3, Chris' looks like it's half RE 5 and half Painkiller, and Ada's looks like RE 4 with more puzzles.

Overall, I've been impressed by all of the footage so far except Jake's. But his game is probably a lot more fun to play than it is to watch.

Not really, but there are some jump scares in Leon's gameplay and Jake's story has the potential to be intense at times with the Ustanak chase stuff. The atmosphere and art design are fantastic, though (the best I've seen yet in RE), so it's already much better than 5.

That's interesting. Personally, I feel the opposite. While I'm sure that Leon's full campaign gameplay will be fun to play-through, the heavily scripted footage that has been shown so far for it has underwhelmed me, personally. And to be honest, I was never too hot on Chris's style of gameplay, as no matter which way I try to look at it I can't shake a very strong Gears of War vibe (I'm sure it'll still be better to play than Gears, though). On the other hand, I've been surprised by how much fun Jake's gameplay looks. Its the least RE-like gameplay out of every campaign mode in the game, but to be honest it looks to be the most fun and challenging to me. It also seems pretty unique, which is why I'm interested in it.

Of course, I do agree that Ada's gameplay seems to be the most appealing, since it looks to be the closest to going by the classic RE formula.

Foggle

Have you seen the Comic-Con footage? That's what I was referring to. Chris never once goes into cover - his campaign looks like an old-school run 'n gun shooter.

Eddy

Apparently some German copies of RE6 were stolen and showed up in stores and online.

Capcom's not too happy.

What the fuck is that? Some kind of boob monster? It looks like it's from Silent Hill. :shit:

I'm super excited for this game. :happytime:

- Vertical level design in some Ada chapters.
- Puzzles in the Ada's campaign are difficult, not "find and insert the red key"
oh my fucking god they should have just made a 60 hour ada game this sounds fucking phenomenal take my money now capcom just take it

Eddy

SO! The demo is out? Has anyone else tried it? What do you all think?

Foggle

RE6 seems like a pretty flawed game, but still quite good, and definitely better than 5. Leon's demo was really cool, definitely want to see more of stuff like that in the full version. Chris' section was also great fun, despite being nothing more than a straight-up arcade-style TPS. Jake's was okay. I liked it more the second time around (my co-op run), but the segment in the demo wasn't so hot.

Eddy

I'm just going to hope they picked some lame spots for the demo. Leon's definitely has potential to be great. Chris' didn't really feel like Resident Evil at all, even less than RE5 did. It's strange that Jake's didn't have that Nemesis-type guy chasing him and Sherry since I thought that monster was the main driving point of their scenario.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to it. Should be better than Resident Evil 5, at least.

Foggle

I loved Chris' section. It felt like a shooter straight out of the late 90's/early 00's to me.

Eddy

Maybe I should replay it with a co-op partner. I wasn't prepared for how chaotic Chris' scenario was going to be.

Also, how do you heal yourself? I can go into the menu and select the green herb but the only options I see are "store in case" and "discard". Is there a button prompt?

Foggle

R2 pops pills (RB on Xbox maybe?), but you have to have herbs stored in your case to do that. You start with a decent amount in each demo campaign. Always combine herbs (as in past games) before storing.

I can definitely see why you wouldn't have liked Chris' section if you didn't know how to heal yourself.

Eddy

Oh, okay. Thanks!

Yeah, I kept getting nearly killed! :zonk: Thankfully, what's-his-face (Pierce?) always showed up out of nowhere to heal me. Until the fight with El Gigante came around (I assume that's the new El Gigante, he looked pretty similar). Then my partner seemed to vanish and I died quite a bit.
