Hey kiddies, now that we're nearing the end of the year, which also happened to be the 20th anniversary of the first network made entirely for the best cartoons on earth, I figured that it's time for us to start a new tradition. In the tradition of Casey Kasem and Nick@Nite's classic New Years Eve countdown, we at toonzone should do the same for our favorite episodes from our favorite Cartoon Network originals.

What I want you to do is to send me an ordered list of your ten favorite episodes of the following series, which will soon be listed below, and a few days before the end of the year, I'll tally up the results into a nicely organized list of the 25 highest ranked episodes. I know it must be hard to pick favorites from each of these series, let alone just 10, but bear with me here and think as hard as you can. You can be doing the world a lot of good by making a list. And these series in particular will receive your love:

  • Dexter's Laboratory
  • Cow & Chicken
  • I Am Weasel
  • Johnny Bravo
  • The Powerpuff Girls
  • Ed, Edd, n' Eddy
  • Courage the Cowardly Dog
  • The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
  • Evil Con Carne
  • Codename: Kids Next Door
  • Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
  • Camp Lazlo
  • My Gym Partner's a Monkey
  • Chowder
  • The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
  • Adventure Time
  • Regular Show
  • The Problem Solverz
  • The Amazing World of Gumball

Why these series? First of all, I plan to stick primarily to Cartoon Network originals, made by the studios themselves. So no Warner, Dreamworks, imports, or what have you. Second, I want to use only their animated products, since we talk about cartoons primarily on this board, so no Level Up. And I added the handful of older series because I wanted to add some classics in for our first year, this anniversary, along side what's currently airing, and since episodes from each of these shows aired on the channel's short-lived Cartoon Planet revival, I went with these. If I decide to bring some of these or other classics back next year will remain to be seen.

And just to make sure you guys know what's up, here are some guidelines to follow.

  • PM me your choices. You can post them on here as well if you want to, but considering the site's rules about list posts, you will have to explain why you went with your choices if you do. If you just want to list your choices, all you need to do is message me.
  • I am not your encyclopedia. If you can't remember the name of an episode, go on tv.com or a wiki to find titles. I'm not going to do your search work for you.
  • Feel free to pick as many choices from one show that you want to. You're not limited in how many episodes per show make it on your list, as long as you come up with a top 10. If you want to pick an episode from each of your 10 favorites, that's fine. If you want to go with all Adventure Time episodes in your list, more power to you.
  • I need a top 10 list, and I need it ordered. I won't accept anything less. If you can't decide which episodes you want to be ranked somewhere, use a randomizer or flip a coin.
  • Half-hour episodes are fine, but specials and movies are not. For example, the Ed, Edd n' Eddy episodes "If It Smells Like an Ed", "Out With the Old, in With the Ed" and "A Fistful of Ed" would be fine to make your list, while the Christmas, Valentine's Day and Halloween specials would not be, nor the movie.
  • If you want to edit your list choices before the deadline, that's fine, but be sure to send me both your new and previous lists when you do, so I can subtract and add correctly.
  • If you have any more questions, feel free to ask here or message me privately- I'll try to answer!

I'm posting this here first. I'll post it on tz around November, but I wanted to make the OP now and give you guys a head start in voting. I might move this to the main board a little later.

...shit, I can only think of like three CN episodes that I view as deserving to be on a top 10 list, or at least remember well enough.

I really wish I could vote for Underfist. I still maintain that could have been a great show.

1. Dexter's Laboratory - "The Beard To Be Feared"
2. The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy- "Tricycle of Terror"
3. Johnny Bravo- "Bravo Doobie Doo"
4. Ed, Edd n' Eddy - "Once Upon An Ed"
5. The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy - "Attack Of The Clowns"
6. The Powerpuff Girls - "The Rowdyruff Boys"
7. Courage The Cowardly Dog - "The Tower of Dr. Zalost"
8. The Marvelous Misadventures Of Flapjack - "Skooled"
9. Cow & Chicken - "The Full Mounty"
10. Chowder - "The Froggy Apple Crumple Thumpkin"

I tried to mix it up... not too sure how good it ended up.

4. Ed, Edd n' Eddy - "Once Upon An Ed"
So, you agree with me? :D

Oh man, I wish I could've put some Courage on there. That ep, along with "Freaky Fred" and "Remembrance of Courage Past" could've made it on there, but I just side with all of the other eps I wen with more (while I'm meh on AT as a who,e I really like Tree Trunks whenever they use her).

It's the one EE&E episode that always sticks out to me over all others.

But yeah, Courage was always an interesting show. I still remember the first time I saw the episode it was randomly in reruns and I just sat there transfixed at what was going on. I always liked the show, but that episode is my personal favorite.

I'll need to put some more thought into my list, but you guys have some really good ones. That said, it looks like I'm the only one who'll be putting Last But Not Beast on my top 10 list. To me that episode is just genius, and as far as I'm concerned its still the one and only true ending to DL.

Spark Of Spirit

^That's a great choice, too. And yeah, to me that's the real series finale.

I tried to pick one per series, except Billy & Mandy where I had two favorites to choose from that I couldn't choose between.

Well right now I just want you guys to send me your lists, but I'm sure that when I open this up to tz, "Last But Not Beast" will get plenty of love. It would easily make my top 20. :)

Yeah, I'll compile my list tomorrow. I need to put some serious thought into my list since there are so many damn good CC episodes that its hard to pick just 10 of them.

Spark Of Spirit

Oh, I switched it around a bit after a bit of re-watching:

1. Dexter's Laboratory - "The Beard To Be Feared"
2. The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy- "Attack Of The Clowns"
3. Johnny Bravo- "Bravo Doobie Doo"
4. Ed, Edd n' Eddy - "Once Upon An Ed"
5. Courage The Cowardly Dog - "The Tower of Dr. Zalost"
6. The Powerpuff Girls - "The Rowdyruff Boys"
7. The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy - "Tricycle of Terror"
8. The Marvelous Misadventures Of Flapjack - "Skooled"
9. Cow & Chicken - "The Full Mounty"
10. Chowder - "The Froggy Apple Crumple Thumpkin"

Attack Of The Clowns is easily the best episode of the show.

That works so well because of the scenes they use. My favorite is the very first one in the classroom where everyone is just awkwardly avoiding him. Also my old sig gif came from this episode.

Not to mention the dream sequence at the start is pure nightmare fuel.

Really, I do think at its best the show was fantastic and on par with the older stuff.
