In the meantime, Bond, who is not dead, has been laying low. When he learns of what happened, he returns. And M tasks him with finding the one who has the information. He eventually learns that the man who has it, is someone from M's past and who has it in for her.

LD Talkback #210

After a slightly longer than normal hiatus... Daniel Craig bounces back from the mire that was Quantum of Solace.

This movie managed to make every retro element of James Bond feel fresh again. Skyfall's made specifically for Bond fans in mind, and unlike Die Another Day, manages to weave the mythos in perfectly for a fantastic anniversary celebration.

So now I have two movies in my backlog. Greeeeeaaaaat.  :P

Thinking Wreck-It-Ralph on Tuesday, and this on Thursday. Or vice-versa. Either way, I have to stop putting it off.

Surprising noone... Michael24 is a fool who needs to shut up.

Foggle

Saw this with John tonight. It was amazing.

Avaitor

I had plans to see this yesterday, but they fell through. :(

We'll try this weekend, but until then, I'll be avoiding this thread.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

I just got back from seeing Skyfall. Great movie, it's as much an improvement over Quantum of Solace as Casino Royale was over Die Another Day.  Gripping story, fast-paced action sequences (that I could actually follow this time, unlike the ones in Quantum) and a suitably sinister villain excellently played by Javier Bardem. What more could one want from a Bond-movie?

Remain the same.

Just saw it tonight!

I'll put it this way- do you remember when I talked about my friend who's very skeptical of Daniel Craig? Well, after seeing Skyfall with me, he has officially warmed up to Craig.

I'm planning on seeing this movie tomorrow, myself. As someone who genuinely liked Casino Royale (though feel its a tad overrated) AND Quantum of Solace (I think its gets more flak than it really deserves), I'm pretty excited to see this movie with all of the positive reception its been getting.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

I just got back from seeing the movie. Its easily the best of the 3 Daniel Craig James Bond movies that have been made so far. I especially like the pacing in this movie, as it constantly builds up the tension and things get more interesting and the movie progresses, whereas with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace I always felt that those movies had some pretty slow and boring parts in between the good moments.

Avaitor

Really? One of my problems with the movie was the part of the film where Bond returned to his old house. It was a nice concept, but dragged on too long for my sake, and Albert Finney wasn't at his best in his role.

I disagree, but maybe that's just me. That part allowed a slow moment for breathing room, and then after just a few minutes they were setting up traps and preparing for a fight.

Compare that to Casino Royale, where you have the really slow build-up after the intro and then the opening chase scene, then you have the really slow poker game that drags on and is kind of stale until Bond gets poisoned, and then you have that whole romance thing going on after the main villain dies just 3/4ths of the way into the movie, which I found to really drag out, personally. In contrast, I felt that Skyfall had much better and more consistent pacing.

Once again, though, that's just how it comes off to me.

Avaitor

Casino Royale was pretty slow in hindsight, but it always felt like they were taking their time introducing the new era of Bond to me, which is why I don't mind the more laxed pace, but to each their own.
