I actually anticipate hearing what Ensatsu-ken has to say when he plays the Mega Man Zero games and Shinobi III. They really do rate up their with the best.

If Steam hadn't crashed on me, I actually would've played Shinobi III a long time ago. I may just get the Sega collection for the XBOX360 and play it on that when I get the chance, though. I kind of wish Sega would release a Shinobi Vintage collection on XBLA, just like how they did for some of their other series, like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Alex Kidd, and Monster World.

Well, we still haven't gotten to Ristar or Shinobi III yet.

... which will probably not make it.

Dude, Shinobi III made it to the next round quite a few matches ago. Were you asleep or something? :D

Spark Of Spirit

Getting the Ultimate Genesis Collection is a good idea anyway since it has games like Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, E-Swat, the SoR games, Comix Zone, and Shinobi III. It's a good deal no matter how you slice it.

 I guess I was!

Anyway, next to hope for Ristar!

I actually have all 3 of the Streets of Rage games via the Vintage collection on XBLA, but all of those other games that you mentioned are definitely an enticing offer to get the collection, anyways. ;)

I would assume it has all of the Sonic games as well; is that correct? I mean, I've already played the main 3 games and CD, but I still never got a chance to try Knuckles Chaotix, being that it was released on the Sega 32x, which I never owned as a kid.

I think about the only bad thing I've heard about the Ultimate Genesis Collection is that it doesn't include S3&K.

It has the first three but:

Like Rynnec said.

But you can still get the Sonic CD remake on XBLA for $5 which is more than worth it. Without loading screens, and with the Sonic 2 spindash, and playable Tails, it is the definitive version.

The Wii Virtual Console has every other 2D console Sonic game like Sonic 1 8-bit and 16-bit, Sonic 2 8-bit and 16-bit, Sonic Chaos, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 2 & Knuckles, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

No service has Chaotix yet, though.

I already bought and played Sonic CD on Steam before it crashed, so I don't really plan on individually buying the remake again. That said, I think it's kind of a bummer that the so-called "Ultimate Sega Collection" doesn't even have Sonic & Knuckles, let alone some of the other great 2D Sonic games, but at the same time the other games are enough to convince me that it's probably worth the price (especially since it's available for extremely cheap, now).

Spark Of Spirit

Oh, it has Sonic & Knuckles, it just doesn't have the lock-on.

But since you can get it for peanuts nowadays, I'd still say it's worth it.

While I'm sure it was just a typo on your part, the game in question is Super Smash Bros. rather than the original Mario. ;)

VLordGTZ

These two matches are really tough.

Match 17:
Super Mario Sunshine - My favorite 3D Mario game
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - 2nd favorite Zelda game (I like Twilight Princess a bit more)
Super Smash Bros
Shinobi

Match 18:
Fire Emblem Awakening - Currently one of my favorite 3DS games
Super Mario Bros 2
Super Mario Bros 3
Aladdin

Foggle

Ocarina of Time - Excellent action-adventure game
Shinobi - Really good action-adventure game that I need to give another try sometime soon
Super Smash Bros - Great party game
Super Mario Sunshine - Well, the soundtrack and graphics are nice...

Super Mario Bros. 3 - One of the best Mario games and platformers in general
Fire Emblem: Awakening - Excellent SRPG; haven't played nearly enough of it, though
Aladdin - Great platformer
Super Mario Bros. 2 - Not worthy of the hate it receives at all, but easily my least favorite game in this match

As far as I know, the only people who hate SMB2 are those damn purists that just get pissed that the North American version of SMB2 is based off of another game, and that the Japanese version of SMB2 was only released in Super Mario All-Stars as The Lost Levels. If you actually look at the quality of the 2 games, though, the NA version of SMB2 is actually fun, while the Japanese version is just frustrating and stupidly designed. If you stop to think about it, Miyamoto clearly had the NA version of SMB2 changed for a good reason, and that's because the Japanese version of the game would have turned people off....because it sucks. THAT is the version that really deserves all the hate, IMO.

Spark Of Spirit

I know if I would have played it as a kid I probably wouldn't have kept being a fan of Mario games. Playing it in All-Stars was torture when I was a bit older.

SMB1 has good enough difficulty for what it is. LL made it so that the controls and physics worked against you to make it hard. Any game that does that is just not fun, IMO.

I typically compare the Japanese SMB1 with fan hacks. You know, the ones that utilize cheap game mechanics and stupid ideas to make unnatural difficulty.
