I think people predicted it because they felt a third-person perspective wouldn't work well with complete MotionPlus sword controls.

I agree, and it's definitely better that Zelda didn't become what you said. I'm glad it's sticking to being a TPS.

Games like Hexen are pretty much first-person Zelda's, so seeing a Zelda game in that style would be interesting.
