Freedom Planet's great. I remember when MegaGWolf focused on it a few years back, and it was still technically a Sonic fan game. Shortly after that they started the kickstarter to make it its own separate entity.

I remember seeing screenshots of that on indiedb or whatever. It looks like the first Vectorman boss is at 1:18 and I like the amount of humanoid bosses. I have to get this for PC one day.

I just learned there is a Contra timeline.

:hayguyz:

For what reason I have no idea. No one plays these games for the story. Still, it is funny to see that even a series like Contra has a timeline.

Contra Force (though this might as well be non-canon)
Hard Corps. Uprising
Contra
Super C
Operation C
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Contra 4
Contra Hard Corps.
Legacy of War (non-canon)
C: The Contra Adventure (non-canon)
Shattered Soldier
Neo Contra
Contra ReBirth (This game includes a lot of time travel. So who knows what exactly this does to the timeline?)

Weird stuff.

Yes, it's no longer a prequel to the series. It happens the same year as Contra 4, apparently, in another part of the world. Which I guess explains why no one in either game crosses over to the other.

I just assumed it came after 3. But then again I used to think Zelda and Castlevania's storyline were in their game releases until like a few years ago...

I dunno, Contra's story has always been hard to piece together. Especially with the whole Mad Dog and Scorpion, and Jimbo and Sully nonsense.

The aliens first pop up at the end of Uprising, and are defeated for good in III with the last remaining forces (from Operation C) wiped out in 4. Hard Corps is the first game to deal with purely terrestrial threats which every game afterwards does except ReBirth. But then ReBirth has time travel so I have no idea what's going on there.

Jesus..what. O.o It's like you spent the whole post speaking a foreign language to me. lol But I'm pretty sure I thought every game had aliens. And this reminds me that I need to get Uprising.

The latter games are biological experiments. It's convoluted, but I guess it is what it is.

And yes, you should at least play the demo for Uprising. I'm sure you'll like it.
