Favorite Games Ever (Besides Ninja Gaiden, Obviously)

There are a lot of controller options, which is always nice. Once I found the right settings, the game just flowed.

Either way, if you guys like FPS games this has a great campaign. But hearing that they gimped stealth in the HD port is a real drag since it added a ton of variety.

You guys both have good lists, which really reminds me of how much of the good stuff from the Wii I've missed out on this generation. :(

Here's my top 10:

1. F.E.A.R. (Kind of debatable which generation it belongs to, but I'll just count it anyways)
2. Ninja Gaiden 2
3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (I never beat it, but its still better than most of what I've played this generation)
4. Halo: Reach (the multiplayer kind of sucks, but this is the first highly replayable campaign mode since the first game)
5. Alan Wake
6. BioShock
7. Sonic Generations
8. Shadow Complex
9. F.E.A.R. 2 (underrated)
10. Devil May Cry 4 (because its still a good hack n' slash game even if Capcom really cheeped out on it, which I hate to admit)

As you guys can see, I really haven't played a lot this generation due to both cost issues and time constraints. While I do genuinely like the last 4-5 games I listed, I was really kind of only listing them by default more than anything else because I haven't played much else this generation to decide over.

All after 1 and 2 are in no order. Still need to play Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3 and Deus Ex Human Revolution.

1. (#1 overall) MGS4
2. (#3 or 4 overall) DMC4
NGS2
Mass Effect 2
Red Dead Redemption
Street Fighter IV (I can easily beat Seth on the hardest difficulty)
Bayonetta
Ratchet & Clank A crack In Time
Rayman Origins (Still need to beat)
Sonic Generations (Last boss makes me unmotivated)

Good lists, folks. I'll try to come up with one eventually. But I would say for now that SMG and SMG2 would easily top it.

I forgot to mention Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. I had fun playing that with my lil bro today. What are the chances that 3 will be made?

Serious Sam 3 is finally available on XBLA! All FPS fans must buy this game now that it's been ported to Xbox. It's only 1200 banana points - a steal.

The First and Second Encounter HD remakes are also available on 360. Buy those too.

So I've decided to rank the Nintendo consoles in order. Not gonna include the portables, so someone else can do those if they wish.

1. SNES: Should go without saying. Arguably the best console with awesome games, and a whole lot of them. Chrono Trigger, Mario World 1-2, A Link to the Past, DKC trilogy, Super Metroid, the Mega Man X games, Secret of Mana, EarthBound, Final Fantasy 4-5, Clock Tower, Street Fighter 2, Castlevania 4, more Contra, Turtles in Time, Kirby Super Star, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Zombies ate My Neighbors, various unknown gems... I'd like to go on, but I'll stop.

2. NES: Similar to the SNES in that it has a massive amount of great games. Those games are just not quite as good as the SNES ones. SMB 1-3, the Zeldas, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Ninja Gaiden 1-2, the Castlevania trilogy, numerous Mega Man games, Dragon Warriors, Punch Out, TMNT, Batman, Double Dragon, Contra, Kirby's Adventure, Final Fantasy games, Duck Tales, Kid Icarus, some more unknown gems, etc.

3. Wii: Simply for having an excellent first-party showing, even if the third-party support was lacking. Three Mario platformers (that includes Galaxy 1-2), Metroid, DKCR, Smash Bros. Brawl, two Kirby games, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, Last Story, Super Paper Mario, the ideal version of RE4, etc.

4. GC: Had a solid number of great games. Two fantastic Zelda games, Pikmin 1-2, Metroid, Super Smash Bros. Melee, F-Zero GX, some great RE games, Paper Mario 2, Mario Kart, Mario Golf, Eternal Darkness, great Skies of Arcadia port, Killer 7, Mario Sunshine, Soul Calibur 2, etc.

5. N64: Still a fun little system, but probably the worst due to the almost complete lack of third-party support, which clearly abandoned them for PS1. Mario 64, two Zelda games, Kirby 64, Paper Mario, Star Fox 64, F-Zero X, Conker, Smash Bros, etc.

Spark Of Spirit

Mine would be pretty similar to that. I actually do find that the NES seems somewhat underrated these days.

The NES list is good except that Mega Man II and Contra below Kid Icarus, Metroid, and Zelda II is a bit ridiculous.

The Game Boy list is completely off except for #1, there is no way Super Mario Land 2 is a better game than Donkey Kong '94.

SNES list has great games, but DKC1 is WAY too high. I don't really have any issues with it otherwise, though.

I'll take a look at the others later.

Gamecube: Star Fox Assault shouldn't be higher than F-Zero GX and RE4 (or even be on this list at all for that matter). And Metroid Prime 2 shouldn't be higher than MP1, and WW and TP should switch places.

N64: SM64 and Smash Bros should switch places. And I don't think it's fair to list both Banjo games. I have no comment on the rest, other than that I'm glad MM ranked higher than OoT.

SNES: DKC1 over DKC2 is...odd. I thought it was universally agreed that 2 was the superior game? Other than that, pretty good list with solid games. Though, the lack of Illusion of Gaia in these lists always saddens me.

GBA: #1 is a really odd choice, it's not a bad game by any stretch, but it certaintly wouldn't be my pick. I also would've replaced Pokemon R/S/E with Megaman Zero 3, Golden Sun, or even one of the Metroidvania's.

GBC: All I can really say is that #9 was an unexpected choice, and they should've included both Oracle games instead of just one of them.

Wii: Eh, #2 or #4 should've been #1 over the actual #1. Good list otherwise.

DS: Good choice for #1. For #6, I thought Shadow Dragon was one of the least liked FE entries?

The Gamecube list is a hot mess. They call Wind Waker one of the pinnacles of the Zelda franchise and the cube in general, and then go to call it an absolute disaster in Twilight Princess's entry.

What?
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

QuoteWind Waker truly was, and is, one of the pinnacles of both the GameCube and the entire Zelda series.
QuoteAfter the absolute disaster that The Wind Waker was to the series, Twilight Princess singlehandedly brought back a ton of the fans who had lost faith in the series

Quote#6: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
it didn't quite meet the greatness of the original

Yeah, the whole thing is just a mess. They even apologize for it in the DS article.

Also, I'm sorry, I just can't classify TP as a Gamecube game. I know that it was originally made for the console and did in fact come out for it, but it was a Wii launch title, and I still believe that more people played it there than on the cube.

Before I read your comments, here\s my thoughts on the other lists:

N64: Error 1 - GoldenEye with no Perfect Dark in sight. I honestly don't know how so many dismiss the latter. Both Banjo games is overkill, I would have stuck with one and left more room for others. Mario Kart 64 is still the most overrated N64 game of al time, it's not even the best (or second best) kart racer of the generation. I have to actually give them props for not putting SM64 at 1, but as a whole the list is just okay.

GBA: Too much Pokemon. Sorry guys, but one Pokemon game is enough for any list and IMO I disliked the GBA games at the time so I'm probably pretty biased here. No Ninja Five-O, Astro Boy, or Drill Dozer is a letdown, but I actually 100% agree with #1.

GC: ... Star Fox Assault? Huh? Super Mario Sunshine is on this list but Viewtiful Joe isn't. What. No Double Dash and TP over Wind Waker I disagree with, but it's not so bad.

DS: Some Hotel Dusk love is great to see. It's seriously one of my favorite adventure games. Radiant Historia is one of my favorite RPGs as is BIS. But, uh, where's Phoenix Wright? Contra 4? Space Invaders Extreme 2? Too many holes here... and still too much Pokemon.

Wii: Metroid Prime Trilogy is kind of cheating. I have to disagree most with this list because there is a lot missing that should be. Mario Kart Wii but no Punch Out? Huh? But the biggest disagreement:

QuoteSuper Mario Galaxy 2 brought a lot of innovation to the table, and while it got rid of some great features from its predecessor
Nothing worth losing was lost in the sequel. I can see people preferring the original, but the sequel didn't remove anything people enjoyed from the original that isn't superficial.

All in all. Ehhhh, could be way better. If only there was a site out there that would make a good videogame list.
