I bought a clear blue one some odd years ago ("Ice Blue" I believe is the official color), but I'm not sure where it even is anymore. It was only the console, though; didn't even come with matching controllers (these things tend to happen with thrift store game purchases). I haven't seen it in a long time; not sure if I got rid of it or what, but I never used it anyway. It was only there to look pretty.

At some point I would like to buy all of those see-through colored models, but it's never been a high priority of mine, namely because I never have enough money to just throw around on game stuff I probably won't even use (my plain black N64 that I've had from Day 1 still gets the job done). They're not easy to find as it is, and usually aren't very cheap if you want a complete set. Oh well, someday.

I haven't seen it posted, but I think they all cracked at least a million or two. Prime 3 and Other M being a little lower than the rest.

Even Metroid 2?

I'd think that either the original or first Prime would be the best selling myself.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

Metroid 2 was out early on one of the highest selling systems of all time, I wouldn't say around 1 million is very far fetched but I could see it falling short. Though I think Fusion and Zero Mission floated around there too in less time, but Metroid was a lot bigger when they came out.

I think Prime 1 and Super were the highest selling ones.

Quote from: Spark Of Spirit on May 24, 2012, 04:27:05 PMWHY IS THERE A DROP OFF WITH DKC2?!?

It makes sense. DKC was the "revolutionary" one (or at least somewhat), and DKC2 came out when other companies were starting on the next gen. To reach the amount of sales it has is impressive, I'd say.

Wasn't the first DKC kind of like the final fight for the SNES to win the console war? I know by the time they were working on 2, Nintendo was hard on work with the N64, and I'm pretty sure that 3 came out just as that was released, so I guess the drop isn't too surprising.

Even still, I'm surprised. DKC3 is one of the top best selling SNES games.

DKC1 was the last major hit for the console.

Next year was better, though. DKC2 and Yoshi Island within months of each other. They even sold pretty much the same. But yeah, the gen was wrapping up then. DKC3 came out when the N64 was out.

Being that a new game has been announced, what are you guys' thoughts on the Paper Mario series?

Rosalinas Spare Wand

Way better than Super Mario RPG, and probably my favorite of the Mario RPGs. I love the worlds they introduce, and they have managed to balance serious storylines with clever comedy so well.

Nel_Annette

The Thousand Year Door is one of my top 5 video games of all time. I love the Paper Mario series. I like how each chapter is its own little story. I like the partners, I love the sense of humor, I love the battle system, the music, the locations, how the plots always get more emotional than I'm used to from Mario games. It's always been a fantastic RPG series in my eyes. Granted, I was disappointed in Super Paper Mario for it's battle system when it came out, but 5 years later, I love it fr what it is.

Needless to say, Sticker Star is one of my most anticipated titles right now. I've waited so long for a new installment.

Spark Of Spirit

It's probably my least favorite of the Mario RPG series (Mario & Luigi being the best one), the original is decent and SPM is disappointing but TTYD is a classic.

That said, I'm anticipating SS for both becoming an RPG again and mixing up the formula.

SPM's gameplay could've been polished up a little, but the humor and story make up for it. Comparing the other two though (since they are more similar thus easier to compare), I like TTYD a bit more... But there are things I preferred in the first game. For one, it had better pacing. TTYD had needless padding and backtracking that gives you that "Why am I doing this?" feeling.

I'm sure Sticker Star will be good. But from the looks of things, it seems to be taking this padding to a new level.

Okay, I'll move it here!  ;)

Paper Mario is being discussed in a different thread.

I agree with some of what you said though, especially the partners having less character than the TTYD ones. However, the pacing is much better.
What's weird is that while I agree with you, I remember not minding the backtracking and such in TTYD since I enjoyed everything about it more than the original. But we'll see, when I beat this I'll move to that.

I will say, one critical fault of Paper Mario is how totally underused General Guy is. To him not appear at all before his boss fight was just criminal since pretty much every other boss does.

I like everything better in TTYD except pacing. Admittedly that's a big deal though, but not enough for me to like the original better.... Also, despite generally being annoyed by the backtracking, I fucking loved Glitzville. Seriously. One of the best game chapters ever.

General Guy is fun, but I agree he's underused... Especially after the awesome Tubba Blubba.
