Needs some Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, Samus, Jigglypuff, Ness and Captain Falcon first.  ;)

Also, Toon Link and his expressions would be priceless.

There's a part of me that wishes they would just convert all of Mario's side/"sports" games into giant Nintendo-thons (i.e. Nintendo Kart/Golf/Party etc.), but there's another part of me that wants Mario to keep it for himself as a "jack-of-all-trades" thing.

See, now we could do is leave the Mario Kart games to be just Mario Kart games. :P

8 new tracks per pack as well? Fuck yeah.

I just got done arguing with a friend who argued about this being a case of them excluding content from the game just to charge extra money for it. Um, no? Some of these characters aren't from the franchise. The core game had the standard 32 tracks? Da fuq?!

Now, battle tracks too pls.

I'm betting on 4 new tracks, 4 retro for each, but yeah, this is a lot of game.

DLC doesn't work that way. The company gives the development team a development budget specifically for DLC, at which point its all on the team to use the budget wisely. This was never planned to be in the game as evidenced by how it has as much content as every other Mario Kart game. It's not like missing an ending or anything. Nintendo aren't Ubisoft.

Give me a four pack track of Block Fort, Double Deck, Luigi's Mansion, and Wuhu Town, and Diddy, Birdo, and Bowser Jr. as characters and I'm set.

Right now, I'm really impressed with this. Also leads credence to the Smash DLC rumor. Nintendo is smart to be making it for these games. Now if it was Zelda or 3D Mario, it wouldn't fit right but here it's a pretty great idea.

Zelda I can see, but I honestly wouldn't mind dlc "worlds" in SM3DW that featured about 7-10 new levels.

You can "pre-buy" the Mario Kart 8 DLC together for $11.99 on the eShop right now, in case anybody wants to save a few bucks. Your system will just automatically download them when they come out. Apparently, the moment you buy it, you instantly get Shy Guy as a racer and a bunch of multi-colored Yoshi as well.

Spark Of Spirit

Yeah, I did that. Now I'll have those icons staring me in the face for the next few months.

But its nice to see Nintendo really getting DLC. This is exactly what it was supposed to be made for.

Yeah, those icons are downright evil, just sitting there... taunting me.

Link on the motorcycle..........awww man, that is too cool.

Looks like I'm getting a Wii U juuuuust in time.

In positive news, the DLC rocks. I've only played the first new cup so far, but Mute City is awesome. I love how this stuff is mixed up. A few old tracks, some tracks based on other IPs, and some new original tracks. Great stuff.

http://www.gamesradar.com/why-every-mario-game-best-and-worst-series/

This was mildly fun to read. Some of the arguments are kind of bad, though, but it's in an understandable way in that it's kind of pointless to even try to make the argument. For example, look at this argument against SMG1.

QuoteWhy it's the worst Mario ever: The little planets are a cop-out really, covering for the fact that the Wii isn't powerful enough to create truly huge stages that topped what was appearing in the games of Mario's competitors. Instead Mario simply went from one small stage to another, as load times were masked by watching the red-capped one fly from asteroid to asteroid. And just think how much better this game would look in HD.

It's a bad argument, and really, that fact that they state is one of the genius elements of the game, in how it created a beautiful looking universe by showing worlds one at a time. But again, I understand that they had to come up with something to make an argument out of, though it also makes me wonder why even make this article.

However, I don't like this point about SMB1:

QuoteEvery Mario after this one builds on SMB's primitive foundation, which makes every game that follows both indebted to SMB and better than it by definition.

I don't like the argument that "the new one is objectively better due to advancements". It just feels like someone trying to present an argument without actually presenting an argument. Yeah, a sequel can have technical advancements... but what if it's just not as good?

I do find it entertaining how they pretty much make a joke out of their arguments for why SMB3 and SMW could be considered the worst in the series. Everyone knows you really can't make that argument.

And yet I've never met anyone aside from masochists think Lost Levels is better than SMB1.

Even them, really. It's weird. They say every game after SMB1 is better than it, but then they seem to dislike Lost Levels.

Half of their "Why It's the Best" arguments just aren't good. And I know I already said that, but really, it just makes it look like it's impossible to favor any Mario game aside from a select few... Which does make sense, admittedly. Is there anyone that would claim that the best Mario game is anything other than SMB3, SMW, SMG, or SMG2?

EDIT:

Also, I wasn't counting Yoshi's Island as a Mario game in that last sentence. That's a great one too, and I know some of you guys favor it. But it's kind of different.
