The thing is, Tecmo is too incompetent to even see that people want a new 2D NG game. They've been ignoring the fans of the classic series for well over a decade, now. What makes anyone think that they will start listening to us now? :thinkin:

There are plenty of great 2D developers out there that would love the chance, too.

But to be honest, I would probably like to see them tackle a new 2D Rygar based on the NES version a bit more than a NG4. But I wouldn't turn down either of them.

Hahahaha! Man, I'm willing to bet that NOBODY currently working at Tecmo even remembers that Rygar exists. Hell, its probably being run by businessmen who have never heard of it and who probably never even knew that Ninja Gaiden existed well before Tomonobu Itagaki even started working at Tecmo.

I wouldn't doubt it. Tecmo doesn't seem to remember anything it does.

Heck if it wasn't for Nintendo pushing them, I bet Fatal Frame would have died off years ago.

Well, Tecmo could always outsource to another developer to make a new 2D Ninja Gaiden, similar to what Konami did with Hard Corps Uprising.
Ninja Gaiden Way4ward?

I was actually thinking Ninja Gaiden Arc System Works, but Wayforward would also be a good choice. As would whoever worked on the 3DS Shinobi game.

My jimmies are exceptionally rustled by the remake of 2 getting released in the west instead of 4. 2 doesn't need a remake... it's already perfect! And the Wii controls are honestly worse than the PS2 controls.

Griptonite closed, I think. Shinobi 3DS is pretty much their swansong if I remember right. But yes, they would have been a good choice too.

I'm just honestly stumped that after NSMB and Mega Man 9 came out and smashed everyone's expectations that more games like them never actually came pouring out. In an industry currently full of copycatting the biggest thing, no one is actually copycatting the biggest thing.

And in terms of business, is it even that much of a risk to make more classic style games like MM9? I'd imagine that relative to the costs of making any modern game, it'd be extremely cheap to make a new 8 or even 16-bit style retro game, so even if the game didn't sell a lot, it'd be a barely even noticeable loss for the company. I'm guessing that companies like Tecmo don't even want to end up using any development staff members on making games like that, since they'd probably consider it a "waste" from their perspective, which just shows how far off they are from what the core gamers who play games like Ninja Gaiden really want.

It wasn't a risk at all, apparently. According to Inafune, the game was massively profitable which is why MM10 was rushed out so fast and we got all those (now canceled) Mega Man games announced not long after it came out.

People obviously want these games, and I mean a LOT of people, but they seem to be ignored by everyone except Nintendo (and recently, Sega) who is raking in the cash.

It's weird.

I want 2D Spyro and a Bomberman game with mutliplayer levels as good as 64.
Have you played this? or this?
Where has that Spyro game been my whole life? Never seen Saturn Bomberman before. Looks damn good.

Whoa wtf since when does the GBA have a good Spyro game? I had this awful top-down one a long time ago that made me hate myself for buying it. Thought it was the only one.

Rynnec

the GBA actually has quite a few Spyro games:

Season of Ice
Season of Flame
The Crash Bandicoot crossover
Attack of the Rhynocs
A New Beginning
Eternal Night

Is it A New Beginning? Saw people talking about it on Eternal Night's trailer's page.

Season of Flame, I think.

Spark Of Spirit

It was made by Griptonite. The same team behind Shinobi 3DS and the two good DS Spider-Man games.
