How is the PC port of the original Resident Evil?

Foggle

Utter garbage. Never play a PC RE port released before RE5. You'd be better off using an emulator.

gunswordfist

i knew talon was in here asking another question, lol.

What exactly is wrong with it? :P

Foggle

Compatibility issues, bad controls, bad graphics, etc.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

DMC4 is the first time that Capcom ever got a PC port of anything right. Ever since then, they've mostly been good, but they used to be so notoriously bad before that point.

I refuse to buy anything Capcom says until I am convinced by actual gameplay footage. They're just saying what fans want to hear right now. They need to prove that they actually still know how to make a proper RE game.

gunswordfist

didn't they say they would do that with 6?

Even gameplay might not be enough. 5 and 6 had tons of hype before they came out based on gameplay videos.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying it's about time we get what Capcom claims they are trying to do. Whether or not they deliver is another story...

What would you say is the best weapon set-up in RE4?

EDIT:

I guess I should be asking what you think is the best handgun, shotgun, and magnum.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

For the longest time I just used the Red 9 and found it to be effective because handgun ammo was really common snd after all upgrades, that weapon was ridiculously overpowered.

Then I saw TS17 no damage the game on Professional difficulty with mostly just the sub-machine gun (without the stock, which it turns out you really didn't need) and the knife. All he had to do was use a shot or two per enemy in the leg to set them up for a roundhouse kick and then slash them on the ground and kill them before they even got back up. So yeah....I pick that one.

talonmalon333

Well, if we're talking all time best weapon setups, I was all about blowing everything away with the infinite rocket launcher and Chicago Typewriter. :P

I was a fan of the Red 9 as well, even more than the handguns that you can purchase later on. As for shotguns, I'd pick the Striker there. I feel like I haven't used the Riot Gun since my very initial playthrough. And the Broken Butterfly was my favorite of the magnums over the Killer 7, if only because it had that ridiculous power boost at the very end.

Yeah, the stock is pretty unnecessary.
