JO posted up an interview with Chris Sabat and Justin Cook from FUNimation back at Comic Con.

Haha, So Justin Cook got pulled out of The Avengers panel for trying to record stuff on his i-phone. :D

That review was surprisingly funny. I have no interest in the subject material itself that they were reviewing, but the chemistry between their interactions and reactions to the anime in this review got a few good laughs out of me. Probably one of the better cross-overs that I've seen on that site.

I'm glad that this was continued. I've been waiting for this for a long time. I didn't like Tamers as a kid but I must admit upon re-watching it due to JO's praise of it (which I did over the summer), there IS a lot of surprisingly dark and mature themes in it and it really is a very well written show. I do have more nostalgic love for Adventure season 1, and I do think that on its own merits its still a good kids' show, but Tamers is just a great show, and honestly I'd say its demographic would more appropriately be above the tween level rather than below it. Its still just safe enough to be have been kid friendly enough to air on Fox Kids (just barely, though), but I was pretty surprised by just how much the show managed to get away with. Don't get me wrong, its still Digimon, and it still retains the core Digimon themes and elements, and the initial episodes and some in the middle are definitely very kid-friendly but its all pretty misleading.

To put things in perspective, the last third of the series reminded me way more of Neon Genesis Evangelion than it did Digimon Adventure. I kid you not.

Heh, As expected this retrospective is a beast. I just finished part 1 and JO only JUST got to the half-way point of the series, whereas with both seasons of Adventure she at least managed to cover the entire general plot in one single solitary part. In this case its going to take her 2 more parts to cover the 2nd half of the story.

I wish part 2 was already up. I certainly can't wait to see her take on the 2nd half of the series. That's where stuff starts getting a lot darker.

Her Top 20 Favorite Anime Opening Themes of 2011 is posted up.

Going by her list, she's right that most of the stuff from this year is pretty generic, but there were some good entries on there. As much as I hate what I've seen of Future Diary/Mirai Nikki (after episode 3 I knew that I wouldn't like this show at all), I do think that the opening itself is pretty kick-ass.

I'm also of course glad to see both Hunter X Hunter and Level E featured on the list. I love both of those opening themes, even if HXH's is more of just generic shonen imagery (but just like JO I'm a sucker for that energetic, highly-optimistic and cheery type of theme music), and also because their both based off of manga by Togashi, which is always awesome. ;D

Following suit with Doug's Disney month in December, JO is doing Mayazaki.

The intro here, and so far she's done Castle of Cagliostro.

That Cagliostro review was a mess. Unfocused, messy, and rambling. Terrible.

I haven't been catching up, but I honestly thought her Cagliostro video was better than any of Doug's Disney vids. It's rambly, yes, but Hope doesn't waste time talking about stuff that anyone with a teeny-weeny bit of knowledge about Ghibli or Disney would know about it, and she says more than "this is good cause it is! You don't need me to say anything more cause I'm Doug Walker and you'll listen to anything I have to say and edit your Netflix queue as so. CHANGE! YA GOT CHANGE!!!!!".

JO hasn't done a Miyazaki video since Castle in the Sky, which honestly doesn't surprise me that much. Her biggest problems are that she gets too sidetracked with her own ideas and that she gets far too rambly for her own good, and both of these easily coincide with each other.

She also STILL hasn't finished her Digimon Tamers series of videos (not to mention the entire Digimon retrospective as a whole). When she last left off she still had to cover the side-characters and then wrap up her thoughts on the series, though at least she covered the entire story and all of the main characters before she took a break from it again.

I think that JO's problem is that she just tries to do too much at once, and I'm pretty sure unlike some other Internet reviewers she doesn't really get any help with editing her videos and such (she pretty much does it all herself), so of course its going to take a lot of time to come out with quality videos. Its just that its a long wait since she's trying to do so many different projects at once and obviously cannot do them fast enough to come out with weekly releases other than her V-Logs.
