Shinobi III is really climbing up my favorite games list.

I didn't play it a lot as a kid, but it seems I'm enjoying it more and more every time I play it. It already surpassed Ninja Gaiden II and Ninja Five-O on my favorite ninja game list (with original Shinobi, Ninja Spirit, and Shadow Of The ninja before you ask!), and is up there with my fave games period.

Once you get good with the many moves Joe has, the game is just a joy to play.

A Ninja Gaiden style game for the Turbografx.

A top down style shooter like MERCs.

Same as above, only for Dreamcast (and it has Mega Man!)
QuoteDevastators
An arcade game that's like an improved version of the base levels from Contra.
QuoteElevator Action Returns
Elevator Action meets Rolling Thunder.
QuoteCommando
Look up MERCs for the Genesis.
QuoteShock Troopers
SNK shooter that's better than every Metal Slug after 3.
QuoteSly Spy
Old arcade style shooter from Data East.
QuoteHeavy Barrel
Old top down style shooter from Data East.
QuoteTrap Gunner
It's like Deception meets Bomberman meets an arcade shooter. VERY original, very hard to find.

What's:

MERCs
MERCs: Wolf Of The Battlefield is a frantic top down shooter in the Commando series. It is great.
QuoteElevator Action *snickers at name*
An old arcade game where you ride an elevator to floors in a building to get secret agent files while you avoid enemy agents. The sequel (Returns) is excellent.

96. Guitar Hero 2
95. Burger Time
94. Braid
93. Star Wars: Tie Fighter
92. Galaga
91. The Sims
90. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
89. Left 4 Dead
88. Double Dribble (NES)

86. OutRun
85. Silent Hill 2
84. Wii Sports
83. Ninja Gaiden (2004)
82. Super Smash Bros. Melee

Not too bad so far, really. Although I would've expected L4D and Mass Effect 2 to be higher. I also would've put Galaga higher up and not put in Words With Friends, or any phone games for that matter.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how any sports sim can ever make a "greatest games of all time list".

I'm talking about the realistic interpretations here, IE Madden (or in this case, NBA 2K11). The ones that overly dramatized and have that pick-up-and-play arcade feel to them (NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, etc.), those I don't mind, as those games are actually fun, and not really meant to be taken seriously anyway. But actual sims? Over 90% of them date themselves within a year, and half of the time, the only noticeable difference between any two games are updated rosters. There's not exactly a lot of lasting appeal here, hence why most old sports sims are dirt cheap within a month of the next newest addition being released.

Otherwise... eh. Not terrible, I suppose. Looks like the token Mario additions will have to be a little higher than we thought, eh Spark?  :awesome:

The funny thing is that this isn't even the most recent game in the NBA 2K series- that'd be 2K12, and 2K13 should be coming out later this year. Does this mean that 2K11 was just that ahead of the pack?

I'm watching it right now. Soulja Boy is one of the people talking about the games.  :wth:

Still, EK should be happy that Ninja Gaiden made the list, even though it'll inevitably place lower than God of War and the like.

I didn't even notice NG. That should be higher. Oh well.

Hey, I have to admit that I'm just stoked that Ninja Gaiden was rated higher than Mass Effect 2 (and it deserves it ;) ).

As for the sports games, I'm not a fan either, but to be fair my brother who plays them told me that apparently NBA 2K11 supposedly plays very differently from any of the previous NBA sim games up to that point as its gameplay was completely revamped, which is apparently why critics praised it so much. Still, I don't really care about realistic sports games either way, but as long as none of them make the top 50, I can live with a few of them being on the list. I honestly feel that if any basketball game should have made a top 100 list, though, it should have been NBA Street Volume 2, since that game kicks ass and is probably the most fun I've had with video game version of basketball.
