She's not very effective as a battle partner, but she's still cool as a character. And her theme is among the best.

Yeah, the train mystery is freaking awesome. The atmosphere of it is the same I got from SMS's Serena Beach: very peaceful, but with a slight sense of dread. I love how freaking big the cars are too. The only thing I fault that chapter for is the dungeon and Smorg itself. The dungeon for having no music whatsoever (unless my copy of the game is crap). They had the outside of the abandoned station have music. Why didn't that music just keep playing once you went in? The silence didn't make it creepier. XD Smorg, well, I just don't think they introduced it well enough. It's heavily implied that Beldum made it, but it would have been nice to see that. After the boss battle, the town is alright, but the mausoleum just feels like an extended afterthought that goes on just a bit too long after the meat of Chapter 6 is done.

How'd you like that pirate ship battle? I just love that whole entire sequence.

You'll probably like Chapter 7. Minus the backtracking to find that bomb dude, anyway. I think when I had first played the game, I just didn't like how little story was there. Granted, the plot points that are there are pretty important, and Mario is finally going straight after the X-Nauts, but it just feels like there's too much space (pun not intended) between them.

Chapter 8, though. Heh. Gotta play through that.

Man, Nintendo has such good writers here and yet somehow Sunshine's story is so... awful.

Yes, the pirate ship battle was cool. Everything about that chapter was awesome, including the misunderstood Flavio. The game is pretty awesome. Even better than I remember.

Flavio was great, but not quite top 5 material for me. As for King K... I could make a whole list for Glitzville.

Don't forget Ms. Mowz. 

She can fit into that #5 spot... Actually, screw it. I'm extending that to a top 10.

I tended to use Goombella and Vivian the most. Pretty much I used everyone equally. Except Flurrie. Seriously, fuck Flurrie.

You got me wanting to play TTYD again.

Goombella is my standard, go-to partner. Yoshi, Koops, Bobbery, and Vivian are all more powerful, but for some reason I always preferred Goombella to the rest (except in the absolute toughest fights; usually then I'd go with Vivian, as she has some pretty strong moves).

...as for Flurrie, well...

Goombella also just has the most character out of all the partners. Then there's her tattle ability, and multi bonk is pretty cool. And I forget what her fourth ability is called, but I used to use that all the time combined with Mario to do 30 damage.

I hate Flurrie... But I'm not even totally sure why. I prefer every partner in the original game to her, despite them having less character than these partners.

I used to play multiple saves just to hear what each partner had to say about each situation. I used Goombella as my main partner most of the time, though. I always found her dialogue the funniest.

Now I want to play it again too...

Yeah, Goombella really does have the best dialogue. Another reason why she's my favorite.

I hate Flurrie because she's ugly and I didn't like her character. And the one time I tried to use her I didn't understand what I was doing.

But, yeah, Goombella was great.

Agreed, Flurrie's moves are pretty weird (and not very powerful either, from what I remember). Never got used to using her, unless I had to.

Probably the only other partner I could never get used to actually using in battles was Ms. Mowz; her moves are just way too weak. She still gets a free pass for being such an awesome character otherwise, though.

Bobbery is top tier as fuck. He was my bro through the second half of the game. But like everyone else, I ended up using Vivian the most. Probably the strongest partner with the most personality to their design.

Also, I really wish the conference today had said more about New Super Mario bros 2 besides coins being a huge deal. I saw what looked like a Mario World style stage, so I'm definitely interested.
