Spark Of Spirit

I think the metro is just a completely new track. The first pack had two courses not tied to any other series or a retro course and it looks like there are two here as well.

Is there any word on a new 3D Mario?

Spark Of Spirit

They're been working on it for awhile now. It might be revealed at E3. Might not. But it's being made.

Yeah, a bit after I posted that I saw that it was called Super Bell Station or Subway and that the little Super Bell symbols were plastered all over it. Still pretty cool. Based on the videos I've seen, it looks like the most interesting layout-wise with all the alternate paths you can take to avoid being hit by the trams.

DLC Pack 2 is out and it's awesome. I find all the villagers standing by in the AC track frighteningly huge. XD

EDIT: 200cc is a freaking nightmare and will take some getting used to.

That new AC track is pretty cool. I do like the HD models for the characters. I kind of like the Fall version of the track over all. Does make me wonder when a new AC game will come out for the Wii U, but at the same time I do wonder what the hell they'll do to improve on New Leaf, since I do recall that a major criticism for City Folk was how it didn't improve what Wild World brought to the table.

All in all, still a decent DLC pack. Still need to try out 200cc, but since I'm not the best Mario Kart player in the world.... yeah, I'm a bit intimidated by it.

Spark Of Spirit

The F-Zero track.

I liked Mute City, but there's no question that Big Blue is better (as has always been the case) and might be one of the best Mario Kart courses ever. That and bringing back three of the best courses from past games (Baby Park, Cheese Land, and Ribbon Road) and having excellent original courses make this the superior DLC tracks of the two. If you own MK8, you need this DLC. It's awesome.

Also the music for this DLC reminded me that MK8 probably has the best soundtrack in the series. All those new tracks are something special.

I hope this isn't the end of MK8 DLC, though. I still want a good Battle Mode DLC at least. As it is this DLC has made this easily one of the best Mario Kart games in the series.

What's the best Mario Kart game?

Spark Of Spirit

Double Dash. But this one might best it.

Double Dash.

So many Mario Kart fans would probably scream at you for picking that. And I still won't understand why.

    Double Dash.

So many Mario Kart fans would probably scream at you for picking that. And I still won't understand why.
From the complaints I've heard it's one of several things.

      • The tracks are boring.

I don't see it. Every track in Double Dash is meticulously designed from allowing crazy items all over the courses to having sharp turns and narrow raceways to slip through. MK64's courses are barren and wide, yet people seem to love those.

      • It's too slow.

The only fast Mario Kart game is 8, so I don't get that complaint. MK64 is the slowest, yet that one's always propped up.

      • The gimmick sucks.

But it works. So you either like it and appreciate its originality or you hate it and wish for a prettier version of MK64.

      • No retro courses.

The first game with Retro courses was MKDS, and those courses are pretty poorly chosen. You can't criticize a game for features the series didn't invent until later.

      • Battle Mode isn't as good.

I can accept this one. The courses are wide open and don't offer much for camping or strategy (except Luigi's Mansion, which is the best course in the game) but modes like Shine Thief make up for it. It's still a better battle mode than any of the games after it.I've never understood why people hated Double Dash. It was better than the previous game in just about every way and was by far the most inventive entry in the series. Mario Kart 8 is the first game since Double Dash to really feel like it was offering something new.

    They still overrate 64?
Go anywhere on the internet that discusses Mario Kart and guarantee there will be at least one person on there who will say 64 was the best game. They most definitely won't give a reason as to why, though. Chances are that same person will say Double Dash killed the series, too.

lmao. I think 64 is the only one I have played and I think it's overrated. It got old fast and the track selection was stale. After it stopped being the party game ever came over to play, there was no reason to play it anymore.
