Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

So DirectTV dropped all Viacom channels because the big V wanted a 30% increase to keep them on, and DirectTV wouldn't comply. If you turn to Nick, you'll get this sign.

Look at what they present when they say to turn to CN. Pretty cool, huh?

On a side note, I find humor in Naruto Pre-Timeskip being in Disney XD slot. :P

Though interesting choices for both CN and Boomerang, despite the fact that SJ reruns are on Boomerang. Let me also say that to the bottom, that is one weird typo right there.

Is that your pic?  Because if it isn't I don't think that's accurate, none of those networks are on the right channels.  Disney is on 290 and 291(east and west feeds) ABC Family is on 311 or some shit, and Cartoon Network isn't on 605(all that's way up there is sports shit), it is on 296.  Unless they changed the channel lineup, but I don't see why they would've since it's been more or less the same for at least ten years now.

Anyway, I don't have DTV so it doesn't affect me, but my parents/brother/grandparents still do.  I don't know if my parents will miss the Viacom channels, my bro will probably miss MTV and Spike and maybe Nick(he might be too old for that channel), but my grandparents are avid Stewart/Colbert followers, and while I think I read somewhere that they are on reruns right now, they'll flip if they aren't and they can't watch new episodes because of this.
It doesn't matter what you say, soon you'll be dead anyway.

I took it from tz. I don't have DirectTV, so I wouldn't know.

Although I wouldn't think that they have the same channel numbers all over the country. Don't they change from county to county?

No, because it's not like cable, which are usually locally run and programmed(although owned by national companies).  DTV is a national service, the channels are the same no matter where you go(except for the local channels, like NBC and CBS and shit, those are different depending on what area you live in).

Also, if they were really running SJ on CN on DTV, you would've been able to see it on your cable provider as well.  DTV doesn't have it's own special CN, it's the same thing as everyone else gets, even though they do have both feeds on the service.

I see.

Well, Jack was probably the first CN show DTV could find a pic of to use, which is why they went with it. I thought it was interesting regardless.

Usually those mix channels show live video of what's actually airing on the network.  Also, it's kind of funny that Disney East is highlighted on the pic, yet at the bottom it shows Cartoon, as if that one is highlighted.

And after looking at that Wiki article I like how they don't classify MTV, MTV2, BET, or VH1 as music channels anymore, they are just general entertainment channels now.

Avaitor

Well none of them really are music channels anymore. They only air videos late at night or occasionally in the morning. That's about right.

So I guess I'm pretty much the only one here that this actually effects.  :awesome:

Eh, whatevs. Honestly, of all the Viacom owned channels, Comedy Central is probably the only one I still watch with some regularity, and even then, I'm not going to wither away if I go a week or so without Colbert. As far as Nick goes... eh. Nick standard sucks, Nick at Nite sucks, I have no reason to watch Nicktoons now that DBZ Kai is over and done with, and Teen Nick/90's Are All That is on stale loop that does nothing for me anymore, unless I'm just randomly in the mood for Rugrats or something. So again, whatevs.

They'll probably have this all ironed out in a week or so anyway (I can't imagine this'll drag on that long; too many channels at stake here), so yeah.

Avaitor

Yeah, the only thing I'd miss is VH1 Classic if I lost it, and even then, mostly for That Metal Show, which is on hiatus now.

Not so. I have DirecTV also.

I personally don't give a crap about MTV, VH-1, TV Land, BET or Spike, and I'm not presently watching anything on Nickelodeon. The only Viacom channel that I watch regularly these days is Comedy Central, and I only watch CC for The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Futurama and Tosh.O, and I can watch them online. However, it seems that today, Viacom has since removed all of the free full episodes of its shows from the sites.

I'm not sweating TDS and Colbert right now, since both shows are off this week, and I don't see this lasting for more than a week or so.

Big V is really playing dirty here. If DirecTV gives in to Viacom's 30% price increase, DirecTV will raise the rates for it's customers, and they won't be happy about that. But if DirecTV stands it's ground, then it's customers will start to leave them for FiOS, Comcast, Dish Network and other companies who are still carrying the Viacom channels. DirecTV is in a no-win situation. The Viacom channels will return to DirecTV, but unless Viacom gives up on its mad quest for higher prices, I don't see any way where this will end happily.

Yeah, this is a pretty bad tactic.  It's almost like Viacom is encouraging people to take a visit to the ol' Bay of Pirates to watch their shows, especially since it not only affects DTV customers, it affects any and everybody, even people that live in other countries are complaining because they now can't watch the shows online.

South Park Studios is still up though, although I've read it's more controlled by Matt and Trey than Viacom, but could you imagine if they did take the site down because of this?  People would riot in the streets.

This was done outside of Comic Con. Really cool.
