The Microsoft E3 IGN pre-show starts at 12:00 P.M. ET and I'll be checking that out.
I'm so out of the loop with modern gaming that there are only a few things that I'm interested in seeing which would really excite me:
-More Ni-Oh gameplay footage and a Beta-demo announcement before the final release of the game
-A proper Devil May Cry 5 announcement (highly unlikely, but wishful thinking on my part)
-More Scalebound gameplay footage
-More Nier: Automata gameplay footage
-Resident Evil 2 Remake gameplay footage (hopefully preserving the original play-style of the game, much like REmake did for the original)
-More HD remakes of classic games that I want to play or replay in general (in particular, I would love for Capcom to do and HD collection for Onimusha, FromSoftware to re-release both Otogi games, BioWare to do a collection for KOTOR as well as an HD remaster of Jade Empire, and on the subject of Star Wars, I'd like to see a collection for the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series; once again, though, most of those are unlikely, and just stuff that I really want to play, personally).
And that's about it for me. Unfortunately, time and budgetary problems just don't afford me the ability to keep up with the modern scene of gaming as much as I used to. That said, I honestly doubt that I'd be interested in that many modern projects anyways. For a few years now, I've found more enjoyment in discovering the greatness of older titles that I missed out on growing up, while I've been disappointed far too many times by a lot of modern games that got me really excited about them only to let me down with sub-par gameplay and laughable story-telling (I think that BioShock: Infinite was the biggest burn for me in this regard, since I was genuinely excited for that one until I actually played it and couldn't even be bothered to finish it).
Microsoft showed some new Scalebound gameplay. Didn't look great tbh. The footage from the last few years was much more interesting for me.
Not much in the way of gameplay footage shown so far at E3 this year. Dishonored 2 looks amazing and Recore looks good I guess. We Happy Few looks great as far as narrative-based games go and Sea of Thieves looks alright. That's about it unless you like sports games and RTS on consoles.
I still don't think BioShock Infinite had bad gameplay. This may be an unpopular opinion (and I honestly have no idea why), but I thought it played a lot better than the original. I replayed the original BS after finishing BSI and I found the combat horribly imbalanced with roughly half its run time comprised of Pipe Dream. I also thought the story was pretty good, especially for a video game. If you disagree, please don't try to tell me while I'm wrong, because nearly everyone ever already has, and I'm not going to be convinced. :P System Shock 2 is still by far the best Shock game, though, and has aged better than even its most recent entry.
I didn't even know Scalebound already had gameplay. I liked what I saw. Recore and Gears 4 looked good. Dead Rising 4 too but not sure I'd feel like getting back into the series. I have no interest in Sea Of Thieves since it's apparently multiplayer only. I want to see much more Cuphead and Bloodstained.
It's not like I think that the first BioShock had amazing gameplay. As far as FPS games go, it's pretty mediocre on the whole. What worked for me about the game was that it allowed you to be rather creative with the ways in which you chose to dispatch enemies aside from just shooting them, and the atmosphere made it fun to explore the environments. BioShock: Infinite limiting the amount of weapons that you could carry didn't really make much sense to me for a game of this nature, and while it was mechanically better than the first game, I honestly found that it was a step back from BS2 (which is the REALLY unpopular opinion here :P) which I found to have a lot more interesting combat options and weapons and abilities in general than either the first game or Infinite.
Scalebound to me looks like the type of game that is more fun to play than to watch. It's not as flashy as Bayonetta or Vanquish, but knowing that Kamiya is a stickler for tight mechanics, I feel like the game's sense of fun will only be truly apparent when I have a controller in my hands. In that way, it's not too dissimilar from the Souls games which look boring as sin to watch but control very smoothly and have tight mechanics when you are actually playing for yourself.

Yeah, BioShock 2 definitely has much better gameplay than Infinite. I didn't really care for the writing in that game, but it's the best one mechanically for sure. Limiting weapons in Infinite was garbage, I agree, though there were only two I particularly enjoyed using, so I didn't mind as much. I liked the atmosphere in BSI just as much as the original game, though - it was very different, but basing it on the 1939 World's Fair was a pretty inspired choice IMO. It was very colorful and inventive and I loved that.

Oh, I absolutely agree. Everyone keeps saying Scalebound looks like garbage, but I know it will be enjoyable when you can actually play it. Kamiya has never failed us before. I also legitimately liked the previous footage they released. It reminds me of Dragon's Dogma, which is easily my favorite Capcom game since DMC4.
Halo Wars 2 might be the most random announcement ever. I'm not sure that was something anybody was dying to play. As for the shooters, after seeing DOOM 4, I'm going to be expecting a lot more from the genre from now on.
There's still nothing telling me to run out and buy a new system. This gen has been pretty boring so far.
I haven't even played the first Halo Wars aside from a demo (RTS games aren't really my thing). I have zero interest in a sequel, and it doesn't help that I've stopped caring about any new Halo games in general ever since Halo 4 turned the series into a big steaming pile of mediocrity. And what makes things even worse for my lack of interest in the franchise is how even fans of Halo 4 seem to hate Halo 5, so it's pretty safe to assume that this series is rapidly fading out of relevancy.

I believe there was an official announcement when the last Far Cry game came out that they're not doing another one.
Ubisoft is awful.
The new Resident Evil is a horror game. And it looks like PT/Silent Hills. I'm not fucking kidding.
Potentially the most shocking announcement of any E3.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare looks fucking amazing. No lie. What the hell did I just witness.
INSOMNIAC SPIDER-MAN AND SILENT HILLS IS BACK UNDER A NEW NAME
Spider-Man by Insomniac is the best thing shown so far.

No idea what you're talking about here, honestly. It's the same game they've been making for years with different set pieces. The only difference is that this takes place in space.
I didn't realize the previous CoD games had space combat, parkour, grappling hooks, and zero gravity segments...?
I still can't get over the Skylanders thing. First Spyro and now Crash.
What a joke.

They actually had most of that. The only thing new is press button to parkour on limited surfaces. In the last game they had a slide and jetpack.
My main issue is the shooting and AI remains as boring as ever, and the level design is still a straight line to the end. I'm not going to get excited about a COD game until it's out and fan reaction is positive.
To be fair, they are "remastering" the first three Crash games. If they do it like Ratchet & Clank, that could be cool. But yeah, the Skylanders shit was lame.

Really? Huh. The most recent one I paid attention to was Modern Warfare 2. I'm a sucker for space science-fiction so I still think this game looks great, though. Had no idea it was CoD for the first two-thirds of the trailer, which should say something about it at least.
The remasters were a fine announcement. I just hope it doesn't have that horrid Skylanders redesign.

Yeah, I posted that. I thought they changed their mind. I was wrong.
Whoa, this Call of Duty does look good
I like Space and Sci-Fi shooters as well, but much like Desensitized, I'm not interested in another CoD game that just uses that coat of paint but is still a linear corridor shooter with brain-dead AI.
I'll take what I can get from the space adventure genre. This is pretty much my only option unless I want to wait for Star Citizen or Mass Effect: Andromeda, neither of which will probably be out before 2018.
Halo: Reach has an outer space level where you pilot a ship and even fight in zero-gravity. You should totally play that game on those grounds alone. :joy:

I actually should to be honest. :D I will try to buy it sometime soon since it's so cheap now.
If you do ever get around to it, I recommend starting on Heroic difficulty. Normal doesn't do the game much justice since the AI are really dumbed down on that difficulty.
Once again, Sony killed it this year! Nintendo could end up having an even better showing, but right now Sony is on top.
I marked out when Kratos showed up, though not as much as when Hideo came out and introduced Death Stranding. That was awesome. Resident Evil 7 I think got the biggest pop out of the conference, it looked amazing. With Allison Road sadly canned, this is the best chance for a P.T. game we're ever going to get.
Spider-Man looked great, but I'm not a fan of his chest design so far.
I'm surprised how cool the new CoD looks, yeah it may be the same linear experience, but if the weapons are interesting and the campaign has co-op then it'll definitely be on my radar.
By contrast, God of War 4 looks like the least interesting GoW yet. I may not be a fan of those games, but the thing I liked about them were the awesome, over-the-top setpieces, and how brutally visceral the combat looked and felt. The new game looks like it does away with both of those things, and the result is an unexciting MGR knockoff, and I didn't even think that was possible (granted, the original games were Ninja Gaiden knock offs, but they at least kept the excitement level of those games.) and it's Norse, so there's no reason for things not to get over-the-top here. I'm also not keen on playing as Kratos again, but at least he's a bit more tolerable this time around.

I will say that Crash in Skylanders looks a lot better than the last time Activision gave him a reboot. Spyro always looked like a pug in the Skylanders series to me. Considering that Crash is going to one of the Skylanders gimmicks this game, which are the Sensei, he'll probably only have that one figurine that will be usable in future games based on the past patterns of the other gimmicks Skylanders like the Giants, the Swap Force, the Trap Masters, & the Superchargers. I'm actually curious to see if Nintendo will partner up with Activision again and give use another Nintendo Skymiibo character
Though poor Spyro, he got figures for the first 3 games, then got a mini counterpart in the 4 and an Eon's Elite figure as well, then Superchargers came along and he didn't get a Superchargers version of himself.

Just as well. It was the first video someone posted showing the Crash announcement.
For all the hype they put behind the reveal, a remaster and a cameo in a game that destroyed another former platforming icon, was not the way to do it.
Wow, the new Zelda game looks huge. Looks like the biggest one in the series since the original in scope.
I'll take that trailer with a bit of cautious optimism. This could be a great game, but hopefully it's not one of those huge open-world games that succumbs to being too big for its own good. What I mean is that I've played my share of games that are big....but spread their actual gameplay substance way too thin. I call it Arkham City Syndrome. Big worlds can be great, but I'm hoping that there is still enough focus to the gameplay that you are spending more time solving puzzles, exploring, and fighting enemies, rather than just running through a seemingly endless open field trying to get to a location that actually matters (as much as I love it, The Wind Waker kind of had this problem at parts). Of course, a warp feature could fix a lot of potential problems there.
In other news, I just realized that Capcom said that they would announce three new games at this year's E3, and they already have....and none of them are a new Devil May Cry. That makes me sad. I'm pretty much going to "Abandon All Hope" at this point. :'(
Link can now climb and jump up almost everything. The demo looks very impressive. You can equip a bunch of different things as weapons. They seem to have put a lot of work into the world for exploration and adventure. It seems to be the logical follow-up to A Link Between Worlds.
There are no more hearts in the grass now. You have to find food and eat it. Looks like rupees might be the same way.
I'm still hoping the mini-dungeon rumor is true. It would give a lot of incentive for exploring beyond all the different items.

I wouldn't say Skylanders destroyed Spyro. There were like six games released before it that did that. It was just the final nail in the character's coffin.

Dark Souls...EDIT: New snark! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7EnGy4t55c)
The new Zelda looks really great but I don't know if I can muster up the resolve to play another huge open world game. :-\ I was super excited for this back when it was announced, but the more giant open world games I play, the less I like them. I'm sure Nintendo will be able to do it better than pretty much anyone else, but after MGS5 went from amazing to boring in the span of 20 hours, this kind of game has basically become anti-hype to me. Maybe once I finally play The Witcher 3 I'll change my tune.

This looks like Dark Souls...
Except the Alpha Demo has already come out and everyone (including Dark Souls fans) have said that it plays very differently from any of the Souls games outside of sharing similar features in regard to non-combat related aspects of the gameplay.
It's obviously Souls-inspired in its aesthetic design, but clearly it's a very different game mechanically. It's like when people said that Ninja Gaiden looked like a re-skinned Devil May Cry before actually playing it.
Nioh is basically the Ninja Gaiden to Dark Souls' Devil May Cry, yeah. Though while I personally like NGB more than the DMC series, Nioh still has a ways to go if it wants to be as good as the three best Souls games IMO.
That's pretty much the consensus from most Souls fans; though, I have heard a lot of Souls fans claim to like it more than DS3, which seems to have disappointed a portion of the Souls Community. That said, a lot of people are still excited for it since supposedly DS3 is the last Souls game (though I'm pretty sure that Bloodborne sequels are still happening).
I do know that Onimusha fans are all over this game, though. Hopefully Capcom takes notice....
Yeah, nevermind....:-\

I'm not really a fan of open world games at all. But what this reminds me of is the original Zelda game. You can go anywhere you want and do anything in any order you want. They just finally have incentives for exploring and going out of your way to find things.
Making everything traverse-able and wide open just makes it all the more interesting to me.

That does sound better than usual. I actually don't mind open world games if they're small enough and treat the world more as a hub that leads into the main content rather than having the entire thing take place in the open world itself. If Zelda's like that, I'll probably enjoy it.

Have you played the new DOOM yet?
Apparently the Resident Evil 7 demo has a bunch of secrets I completely missed. Thought I did a good job scouring the house, too...
I have not played DOOM. I'm still in last gen. ;)
I'm confused as to how Nintendo can go back to basics with Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong Country, Mario & Luigi, Mario Kart, Pikmin, and Star Fox (to an extent), but they absolutely refuse to do so for Mario Party or Paper Mario.
I'm not even saying the new Mario Party and Paper Mario will be bad games, but it just doesn't make any sense.
Let's not kid ourselves, the last good Mario Party was 3. Maybe 4. The only game of its type I find particularly enjoyable these days is 100% Orange Juice.
But yeah, the direction they're taking with Color Splash is especially disheartening given the great work they've done with their other franchises as of late. I'm sure in 10 years we'll finally get a proper Paper Mario 3... and Metroid 5.
So, aside from the fact that I've had to come to terms with the reality that Devil May Cry 5 is never happening, this was a surprisingly decent E3 with a number of announcements that interested even myself, which rarely ever happens anymore.
DMC5 will probably be announced next year tbh. If they can bring back Resident Evil as a legit horror game, I'm sure they have plans for a true Devil May Cry sequel as well. Itsuno just started working on a new unannounced project at the beginning of the year too...
Aren't Devil May Cry games typically showed off on TGS first?
I thought that DMC4 was first showed off at E3, but to be honest I'm not sure. Still, E3 is generally considered to be the bigger gaming event on a worldwide scale, and DMC itself sells a majority of its copies for each installment outside of Japan, so marketing it at E3 would make more sense unless they were working on the game and were still too early in development to show any of it off.
So what new games announced this year are you all interested in?
Resident Evil 7
Zelda
Death Stranded
Spider-Man
Probably some others that I'm forgetting.
Why are they even doing another portable Mario Party? DS and Island Tour couldn't have possibly have been that popular.

No real gameplay of Prey has been released yet, but I read some of the leaked design documents describing it and it sounds heavenly. Like System Shock 2 combined with Deus Ex from the developers of Dishonored and writer of Planescape: Torment. It's going to be really damn good.
New Colossus was only teased rather than actually announced, but MachineGames did such a wonderful job with their first two Wolfenstein titles that there's no way I wouldn't already be hyped for the next one.

As someone who's played all of the Gears of War games, I found Gears 4 to honestly look pretty uninspired. To me it looks like a graphically enhanced Gears 3, and while I've always kind of enjoyed this series in a "turn off your brain and have some dumb fun" sort of way (unless you play on Insane, in which case get ready to deal with some cheap BS), this one doesn't really entice me to do even that much from what I've seen of it so far.
Granted, I'd still probably play it if I owned an XBOX ONE, but it's nothing that makes me want to own the console.

Not necessarily new games, but I do have a few games that successfully hyped me up from their presentations and footage.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Spider-Man
Cuphead
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Shadow Warrior 2
Yooka-Laylee
Also interested in the new Quake and Wolfenstein announcements, but id Interactive IPs are pretty much expected to be great from now on.
All things considered, it wasn't as bad this year as I was expecting. Pretty good spread of genres, too.
By the way, it's confirmed that you can find and fight the final boss right off the bat in Zelda if you want to. That's pretty cool. Feels like games don't give that option anymore.
Cuphead! Still waiting for that beautiful, beautiful game. My most anticipated games at the moment haven't really changed since last E3, unfortunately... they've just all moved to 2017. :\
Nier: Automata
Yooka-Laylee
Persona 5
Yakuza 0
Resident Evil 7 (okay, this one is new)

:joy:
Yooka-Laylee toybox footage from E3. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7piOjxp13-U)
Just watching it and they clearly get what people liked and didn't like about old 3D platformers. It looks like a lot of fun.
EDIT: Fans of 2D platformers should really check out this trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr_dtRgC144).
Nioh is still one of my most anticipated games of the year. Hopefully it redeems Team Ninja. If it's good, then that means Ninja Gaiden 4 actually has a real shot at being great again.
Looking forward to
New LoZ
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Souls & Fleshy Spirits
Crash Bandicoot remakes
Pokemon Sun & Moon
Ever Oasis
Dragon Quest VII
What can I say, I love RPGs.
Finally, Nier 2 gameplay footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq3_phBQA_Y
This is basically an old-school 3D platformer boss combined with a bullet hell game and I love it so much. Thank you based Yoko.

Yes, alladis is what I want and Nier and Ni-Oh. Gaming is looking up!! Also, watched the Shaetae trailer a day or two ago and it looks great! She'll be right at home with my other Vita platformers.

Holy shit, bullet hell hack n slash! This just went up on my list. The game is gorgeous.
Wild Guns: Reloaded footage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqu7v00ICq4)
4-player mode? Whoa.
Four player goodness!!! I hope there's a Steam version so I can play this nline for free.
So far it's PS4 only, but who knows? It doesn't look too complicated to port to everything.
Other games:
River City: Tokyo Rumble (the Renegade remake) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-qW_wscIV8)
Bloodstained (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XRtUXz3KRw)
Shantae (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MowDZo7D4Lw)
Somehow I forgot platforming in Cuphead. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upN0sHG_wzI)
Sad to say that there wasn't any particular game at E3 that made me excited, there was some cool stuff I guess, but nothing to salivate over.
More Shadow Warrior 2. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMT0L9kSZm0)
The way they're doing the levels is intriguing.
Strangely late, but another new snark! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hfRd4UY4fE)
